It was fun on the Switch, great with a controller. The progression is slow but rewarding. Not as good as monster hunter for the PSP or the Nintendo DS but sill worth a shot.

Rise is very remeniscent of older MH games and has a satisfying feel straight from the start. A bit simpler in terms of graphics and movesets than World and Wilds, but it's great to have a good old MH game to play in addition to Wilds

this is better than MH:World and MH:Wilds in my opinion. very fun and quite replayable because of how fast you get into the action from starting a new game, especially compared to World and Wilds. not to mention multiplayer is actually integrated properly and isn't annoying as all hell unlike World/Wilds.

You beat the crap out of big lizards. What's not to love?
For a port of a Switch game, it's not bad at all, but the portable framework is painfully obvious.
I friggin' HATE what they did with joining quests online though.

After having played quite a lot of World and Wilds coming to Rise feels really strange. On the other hand I can already see many of the features being introduced here that are the most hated ones in Wilds (performance being good here but other than that) and while many say that the gameplay and combat are the best in the series but I have to disagree strongly. Combat has less meaty feeling than in World and more clunky than in Wilds and I think that both of those games shine on their own way in this regard. So this leaves this one in awkward place as combat is like 90% of the enjoyment in these games. And I like to explore the places in these games and have spent a lot of ours just looking and seeing what the world has to offer, in Rise the world is really boring and you have to explore even less than in Wilds. And while many complain that Wilds is too easy but its very apparent here too. I still need to get to the end game here but nothing is kinda pushing me to make progress at this point and I would rather just go play World or Wilds. It does not meant this is a bad game far from it. Its just the least appealing to me when comparing to other entries that I can go play.

to anyone who wants to start hunting monster in monster hunter franchised, i will recommend this game to play first before Monster Hunter: World or even Monster Hunter: Wilds. This game is a good start to learn every mechanic in the game franchised and should be easier than other series. 100% recommended

Honestly didn’t expect to enjoy Monster Hunter Rise as much as I did. The wirebug stuff is super fun and makes moving around feel great. Boss fights were awesome too Malzeno and Valstrax especially they were really cool. Overall just a really fun time.

This game is actual solid and fun.
However, I'm not sure why I don't enjoy playing it as much. Is it because the visuals are simple? No, I actually enjoy the visuals; they are simple, but they fit well with this title. Also, it seems the visual effects are more dramatic than in World, which is something I like.
Is the combat too fast? Not so, but I still like the speed and complexity, especially the wirebug system, which allows our hunter to move more freely when striking and evading monsters, even switching between move skills. Plus, you can swing around anywhere.
The monsters are very diverse, particularly if you own the Sunbreak DLC. The armor and weapon designs are more distinctive and cool.
Yet, I must say the game lacking with the DLC; cosmetic DLC clothes are sold individually, which is a bit of a bummer knowing that they were supposed to be as a single bundle. And also with the Gacha talismans; because the gacha affect the talismans' abilities/skills, farming feels less rewarding.
Overall, I'll still give it a positive review (do I must force myself?) since I feel the game is solid, fun, and enjoyable for most of players. It's just me that isn't enthusiastic with this game. But I'm curious if anyone else feels the same way—please help explain what's going on with me. Despite that I enjoy playing World and Wilds (albeit Wilds seems undercooked).

Jumped in expecting a serious hunting game. Five minutes later, I’m riding a dog with turbo jets, drifting around cliffs like I’m in Mario Kart while wearing full sushi armour.
My wirebug yeeted me into a wyvern’s mouth, the Palamute stole my kill, and I spent more time posing for photos than crafting traps. Village elder said the world was in danger—I responded by breakdancing in front of a volcano with a longsword that talks.
10/10, monster slaying has never felt this anime.
