Great real-time tactics stealth game in the mold of Desperados III and Shadow Tactics. The challenges/achievement hunting weren't as well constructed compared those games, but the level design and world building were exvellent. Highly recommend thid game. Looks like Artificer are the successors to Mimimi now that they'vd closed shop. Truly hope Artificer makes more RTT-Stealth games, especially with these characters/world they've built here! I'm surprised I missed this when it came out. I've definitely been craving a game like this after finishing Shadow Gambit.

Started crashing literally three seconds in (yes, during the first logo screen). And after the first level ran into a memory leak that forced a hard reboot of my PC. Sorry, but that's a refund.

Fun real-time-strategy game that plays like "Cursed Crew" and others in that series.

So much Yes with this game! so yeah the story is generic, some of the bugs and jank are unaceptable but at least in my case a quicksave reload tended to fix them aside from some visual glitches that didnt impact gameplay. Despite that this game is fantastic! unlike the incredibly uninspired shadow gambit where you can cheese literally anything. this game is a giant puzzle there are tons of ways to solve it, sometimes you feel like a genius some others well im not as proud of my solutions but hey if they work. so yeah if you like comandos this game is the best modern iteration.

Experience: - Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive - Desperados 2 - Desperados 3 (Mimimi) - Robin Hood, Legend of Sherwood - Shadow Tactics + DLC - Commandos 2: Men of Courage - Commandos 3: Destination Berlin - Warmongrels Completed: Hard, no alarms. This game gets a thumbs up from me at full price listing! Support the game while the devs are still alive. The game has 10 levels. I spent about 2h steam hours pr level. The devs are in a bit of an unfortunate situation in terms of ironing out bugs, but the game has an in-game reporting feature and the devs also reccomend you using the steam forum if you encounter an issue. I've only had 2 game breaking bugs occur once and the issue was resolved by restarting the game (not the mission!). I liked the game aesthetic. It feels close to Shadow Tactics, with a stronger color pallet. The game isn't going for a realistic setting, which is very obvious from the character skills you have available. I feel this is the game Mimimi should have created instead of Shadow Gambit: The cursed crew, as Mimimi wanted to depart from the realistic ST/D3 worlds and create something supernatural. The OST is fine, on the exception of a few levels as the second map comes to mind. The music loop can get a bit tiresome when you are 2 hours into a mission. Gameplay: The game plays like ST/D3 in terms of UI and feedback where the sound/kill radius is displayed before you take action. Some of the skills might feel a bit too overpowered compared to the other more "grounded" games, but the devs have implemented some game mechanics forcing you to think differently about certain encounters. I need to compliment the devs on trying something new with leveling up your skills. For each kill you gain experience for that skill which impacts different things like casting range and "noise pollution". You can also pick up experience crates scattered around the map to get an experience boost. This is a cool addition which I don't recall any other RTSS games have done in the past. My only problem with it is that the amount of kills you need to level up is a lot and the crates only gives you experience for a "random" skill which means you feel forced to gather all the crates in order to level up your favorite skill. From the characters, to the enemies, to the map design I think the devs really went into creating a good game that is not just a blue-print of previous games, but can also stand on its own. The game has an in-game timer if you want to speed run it. If you want to do the timed achievement for each level I'd reccommend you do it on the easiest difficulty level. If I were to "complain" about something it is that on Hard difficulty (most enemies), there where some sections with too many freebies. Freebies meaning guards that either wasn't in someone else's viewcone or patrol path. That is a complaint I can easily forget if I'm going to make an overall recommendation of the game. For new users: This is a decent addition to the RealTimeStealthStrategy game genre. Don't feel bad choosing the easiest difficulty level! Keep in mind that even for easy difficulty, quick save and quick load is part of the game. On hard difficulty I had about 200 quick saves and 150 quick loads. This game is basically lots of small puzzles that you have to solve with the characters you have available. Some times you might get unintentionally discovered by a patrol, because the patrol pattern is quite large. It is all part of the game. The key denominator for games in this genera is the quick-time-action (shift), where you queue up spells for all characters to be executed at the same time. This is often a must in order to eliminate patrols or guards in a tricky area. Feel free to leave a comment if you need any help or have any questions! Regarding other reviews/steam forum feedback: - Blue-print copy of ST/D3 (Mimimi)?: Not really. People talking about the characters being the same; like the big strong character, the small/agile character, the sniper, the seducer etc. These have been archetype characters for over two decades now and not something Mimimi innovated on. The game has similar character types, but they have added new type of skills and added variations of old type of skills. For instance the "seduction/distraction" skill can only be accessed by entering a state where you lose access to your previous abilities, which is a cool take on balance and the in-game theme. The characters and their skill-set gave me a bit of renaissance and I can see myself go back and try to complete some achievements or speed run the game later. - BuT Is ThIs GaMe WoKe?!?: I hate this term because it has been abused to mean anything bad that a person don't like. The last few years people with a certain mindset has come out of the woodworks ready to bash anything they don't like if they get a small sniff of "diversity". That being said there are no "I'M 'X' AND LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!". The game feels like the first Alien movie, where the Ripley character could be filled by anyone and no one is complaining that Sigourney Weaver filled that role perfectly. The game is quite colorful, but that has nothing to do with what "woke" originally meant or what some people think "woke" is today. Edit: Could use some more bear puns!

Gameplay-wise it really feels like a Mimimi game. It even looks really similar to their games when it comes to interface or the graphics. On a technical level it is little less polished. I had to deal with stutters and a few crashes, but nothing terrible. While the levels themselves are pretty long there aren't many challanges (most maps have the same five: speedrun, don't use a certain skill, don't raise a single alarm, do the optional obejctive and collect all skill upgrades). If you're looking for more after Mimimi games, I highly recommend it.

I really can't recommend this enough. The art style, character design, and narrative are a rare breed of perfect. So glad Artificer's here to pick up the torch from Mimimi.

My review page. Follow me on twitch!
The gist of it:
When Shadow Tactics and Desperados 3 launched they were incredibly successful, though for some reason everything in the genre after that has seen a huge drop in popularity and sales, and I have no idea why. Mimimi closed down due to this and despite that some developers like Artificer still risked it. Sumerian Six, while not perfect, is a fun tactical stealth game and a great nod to a genre that is sadly completely dying. 👍 The good parts: +Stealth mechanics are great +Diverse locations +Pretty good voice acting 👎The bad parts: -Crashes a lot -Some annoying bugs
Story
The story won't blow your mind, it's the good vs nazi stuff you've seen quite a lot of times. You're a group of misfits, sorta, that are tasked with stopping the Nazi superpower led by one of the team's ex-members. The story takes your team to several cool locations, you'll stop their plans and save the world. Not much can be said without spoiling things, the story is mostly carried by the voice actors and their banter with one another which is well done. Just like Desperados 3 and Shadow Tactics, while there is a story, this isn't the main point of attraction, but I'm glad they didnt half-ass it and it serves its purpose quite well. Story rating: 7/10
Gameplay
The main aspect of Sumerian Six is its tactical stealth gameplay. The mechanics are similar to Mimimi games with not much creativity in the mix. That isn't exactly a bad thing, but clearly, something is pushing people away from the genre. Each member of the team has unique abilities that are adequate for each situation, though some are more overpowered and useful than others. Essentially you have to sneak into each location disposing of the Nazis controlling the area and completing your objective. How you do it is up to you as most missions have more than one way of handling things which was great to see. You can of course go loud if you wish, but I feel like the core gameplay is to never sound an alarm and just think your way through enemy lines, killing everything you can. It's a fantastic puzzle game if you think about it since you have to always think about how to approach and dispose of the nazis one by one without being noticed. I believe the thinking part is one of the reasons the genre is dying. Stealth by itself is a patience game and most new/modern gamers have none of that. Add thinking into that and you've basically killed any chances with the modern idiots. I respect developers still making hard games. It's not a perfect game, I had my complaints about it, as in being a bit too long at times, but overall I enjoyed the game and I would love more of the genre in my life. Gameplay rating: 8.5/10
Audio
Voice acting is great, each character does its job well with the character they're playing so huge plus in that regard. The soundtrack was a mixed bag for me. On one hand, the music by itself isn't bad, it just did not fit well with the stealth aspect. It belongs in shooting sequences, not chill stealth missions besides the fact that the songs are quite short and repeat very often. As for the sound effects, they were fine, however, there were quite some annoying bugs in regards to them, specifically from one character if you used his arrow skill without picking it back up and you'd reload the game from a mistake, the sound would never stop and it would loop forever until you quit the game. Audio rating: 7/10
Graphics, performance and tech analysis
Visually the game looks pretty good, it has some decent animations and the locations you visit are visually great, each one is unique with some pretty good level design that helps the stealth genre improve. The game also runs really well, however, it crashed a lot early in the game for me, especially if you quick load a lot of times, which you will do if you plan on doing the missions without sounding an alarm. Graphics, performance and tech analysis score: 7.5/10
Conclusion
It's not better than Desperados 3 or Shadow Tactics, though it is far superior than Mimimi's last game. If you loved those games, there are no reasons to avoid buying this. Shadow Tactics sold really well so where the hell are those people who bought it? It's a shame this game didn't sell at all and the developers were massively disappointed about it, but times are changing, and not for good. Get it at any price.
Final score: 7.5/10
