I really hate doing this, because this game has some potential I think. So here goes. The title screen and menu screens are a bit generic looking - but that's not too big of a deal because I do realize that this is an amateur type indie game and to be honest I probably couldn't have made it look any better but anyways.. The sound is pretty good, the music is catchy and has a good beat and isn't too annoying. The tracks are not really memorable and seem to loop too quickly. The music tracks don't change until you are through at least 5 levels so they can tend to get repetitive. The sound effects themselves are OK. I am pleased that there are no screeching annoying sounds or some person saying "power up" in some terrible voice for every item you get at least. The controls, they are actually not bad at all. I do like shmups that can have the firing rate increase based upon the speed of you mashing the button. This game is not programmed for a controller it says but I was able to use it with my Xbox 1 controller just fine except for using the analog stick because it acts more like a d-pad then anything analog. But that's understandable. So far nothing seems to be really bad about this game in this review right? Decent graphics during the game Decent music and sound effects Controls are respectable The following is why I wouldn't really recommend this game. It's repetitive. The levels from one to the next don't look any different until you finish at least 5. Nor does the music... so it makes it really seem like in truth it's all really just one level that has been chopped into 5 parts with a boss and the end of the fifth part. I guess you can look at it as checkpoints for when you die which leads me to my other gripe. .. I never died. I don't think I lost a single life when I was playing it. It's WAY too easy. There is no background collision with your ship anywhere that can take your life but only with the bullets you shoot there is. There really is no gimmick with the game and it doesn't have any special control scheme or game play uniqueness in its features. After level 9 I was so bored I couldn't play it anymore and shut it down. Really sad. If the programmer could go back and tweak just a few things this could be an enjoyable game. But at the moment ... yawn. Now if this is a first or second type effort for the programmers I guess It's not too bad. I would be tickled really if it was my first.. but it still kinda sucks.
