really funny just a little glitchy but the story and gameplay is worth it

I could go on about the combat feeling a bit too button mashy if you get what I mean but the real problem is this game's cover image on Steam like oh my god Travis looks so fucking weird with that toothy smile Good thing there's a Steam Deck plugin that lets you change the artwork so I don't have that ghoulish visage staring at me all the time

I love this game and this series. So far, I haven't run into any issues on PC compared to what any others have. NUMBER 1, HERE I COME!

"If Challenge had a taste, You'd be Quite Delicious." Love the whiplash from going up against ridiculous ranked assassin's to then picking up trash for cash in a environment friendly side job to pay for the next fight.

I played this game when it first came out on the Wii, so I am of course biased. This game was one of my favourite back in high school and an introduction to more "mature" games for me as I had only played E rated games. It has a very unique setting, aesthetic and fun game play. Only original complain is that the map is kinda empty and some of the side-jobs and assassin missions are a little repetitive or tedious. About the port, I had the same problem as most, running it on Windows 11. Go to the .exe file and click properties, there look for Compatibility, then set it to Windows 7, and then it should run smoothly.

So to start with, this is a good game. Think Killer 7 meets an open world GTA style experience. No More Heroes is a small open world that is very grindy. It will certainly feel tedious at times, but the upgrades to your move set and your weapon, along with the side missions will intrigue fans of small open world games. Now, onto the very down side of this port. The game will crash...A LOT. Let me tell you, save and save often if you're going to try and get through this. The PC port is simply a mess. There are some side missions that are very bugged (baseball) and they are going to drive players completely crazy when trying to do them. If you can handle these things along with some graphical issues then I'd say pick this up, especially if you don't have access to other versions such as the Wii or Switch. If you feel like the issues with this port are going to be unmanageable for you then you need to stay away. As a recommendation I can say proceed with caution. No More Heroes the game is a strong 4/5, but the PC port is a 1/5.

Good: - Really great difficulty system where on hardest difficulty you can just skip the time wasters and head straight for the main story - Tons of funny moments: Beef Head messages and every time Travis screams are my favorite. - Cute pet kitty - So many cool moments, especially the different Battle Modes Bad: - Has ranked missions but no easy way to reset to try for higher rank

Peak Japanese hack & slash. Love games where foreign developers try their hardest to make the characters as American as possible.

Informational review: Despite being listed as "Unsupported", the game runs seemingly perfectly fine on Steam Deck. Had zero issues getting past the first boss and only had the fans start up upon hitting the open world. I imagine the only reason it's "Unsupported" is because it has an external config app. There's still some issues with the port, but it's nothing compared to the issues that most 18 year old games have when you try to play them on modern PC's. Head over to the PCGamingWiki and grab the links for NMHFix and Heavenly Star Restoration. Set the game to FXAA in the config and turn the subtitles on and SFX volume halfway down in the in-game settings. The port could be slightly better, but all things considered it's a perfectly adequate port and likely the best way to play the game today for anyone who doesn't own a CRT (don't play the original Wii version on a modern tv you will wish you settled for the FXAA).

Black screens every single time i defeat the first boss, I have tried it 5 times and the same thing happens each time.
