I haven't played a game that has made me this mad in a long time, the puzzles are the worst of any RPG type game I've ever played. I can't even finish this game, I get too angry. I would never recommend this to anyone, even someone I hate. Not worth the anger or time, really. I love these types of games but I really, really, really do not like this game.

EDIT: According to the developer, they adjusted the sequence I was having the most issues with, so one day I may go back to this game. I'll change my review to Recommended simply because the dev addressed my concerns without 'talking down to me' like some do. Kudos.
I got a refund on this one. Interesting game, and I love the character art (even if fabric doesn't really work like that :P). The story was enough to get me to keep going but here is what killed it for me: One touch death sequences with enemies that are the same speed as you (and some can go through walls), enemies that are slower than you, but then suddenly speed up and are faster than you, and enemies that are faster than you.
The part that REALLY got me to rage quit and refund was a sequence where you have to turn off your light to avoid the light-sensitive 'faster-than-you' enemies. Except you can't see anything on screen except a small little circle around your character. The enemies are a dark color as well, so I kept running into them, even when I tried to go slow. After 6 or 7 game overs, that was enough for me.
I'll probably try it again if the dev adjusts things to not be so...BS. Like I said, the story was interesting, and it kinda sucks that a poorly implemented sequence is the reason I gave up on this.

Engaging, short, and sweet. Some jumpscares, a few obnoxious enemies that you had to wait out, and some puzzles that happened to take a few extra minutes than others. Definitely worth a play if you enjoy RPG-maker horror.

I'm just 4 hours in the game and I have to say I LOVED IT. The effort and love the development team put here is clearly visible. The story is great, so are the characters. The game has 4 endings (1 being the true ending) but I'm yet to unlock it.
I bought the full version with the art and the soundtrack because I want to support them fully. The game is very good but BEWARE of the jumpscares! The game IS SCARY!

This game is extremely fun! It has well thought out puzzles, engaging story, all the characters have their own unique personalities which makes it entertaining (fan of the art too~), and not to mention just when you least expect it, something else surprises you from out of nowhere (Or kills you, in my case!). 2.4 hours in, I really can't wait to see what happens in the end! :3 would recommend 10/10!

I did like this game quite a bit. 7/10 if I had to put a number on it. 8/10 if it were longer. The game does a fair job of making you like most of the characters at least a bit. The story is interesting enough, and does a good job keeping you guessing as to what is going on in the big picture. I think the only real flaw I can think of is more of a game design pet peeve. The ending you get is largely, if not entirely dependent on your final decision. I like it a lot more when choices throughout the game determine the ending, rather that the final scene being the game changing moment for the whole story. Still though, it's a good game, creepy enough, fun to play, good story. Would recommend.

This game is fantastic. You never know what is going to happen next, the puzzles are well thought out and executed and there is a constant sense of impending doom (especially when you hear those rattling chains). Wonderful soundtrack as well. Looking forward to the developer's next game!

I enjoyed this game quite a lot. It starts with the characters visiting a cathedral and exploring it but the game quickly gets darker. Gameplay get's really fun once you enter the first major area.
The atmosphere is dark and eerie, with a good amount of jump-scares and a great soundtrack.
It was an engaging story, I was always looking forward to what would happen next. You're basically trying to figure out how to escape the cathedral while solving puzzles and going through investigations along the way. The game wasn't too easy but it wasn't that hard either, I think it's a good balance. Loved the art too.
I can recommend it, game's really good!

Black Chapter is an incredibly fun pixel-art horror RPG. It starts out with a class field trip that goes wrong. Students are locked inside a cathedral and unfortunate events begin to happen.
The gameplay is enjoyable, it's a mix of solving puzzles and investigating what's happening as you get through the story. Has an overall dark atmosphere and great soundtracks, definitely had a few jump-scares during my playthrough. The ending was interesting too, has multiples ones.
Overall I'd recommend this game, was a fun one!

This game is actually a little gem.
When Evan and his classmates visit the famous Durhal Cathedral, they get locked in and have to find a way to get out. But after some mysterious events, things get bad very fast.
It took me about 4 hours to finish the game with all endings, but it's possible to finish in about 2 or 3 hours, depending on one's playstyle. Black Chapter contains some very good jump scares and chasing scenes, as well as some minor detective mechanics, which I enjoyed very much.
It's possible to save at the end of the game to get all of the different endings, so there's no need to replay the game every time just to get a different ending.
Another thing to point out, the developers were very friendly and responsive in the forums.
Black Chapter is not an RPG maker game, but made in Unity, for anyone who cares about this.
I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys games like the "Strange Men" series.
