What a relaxing game! I'm tired of all those "bang bang" games and this one is refreshing! If you want to play something intelligent without all the stress, this is the one!

Very fun, well-made and relaxing Oregon-trail style game! Really invokes the feeling of medieval travel. Highly recommended, especially for history nerds!

The game has been well worth the investment in money and time I've put into it. My first journey was immersive and very interesting. However, the game doesn't seem to be completely done. There was quite too much repetition of events, even in my first playthrough. Also, after I got back to Venice and made and almost 50 times return on the capital I got lent, the game text says that I didn't make any money and would have to go out again... what? This took away a little from the satisfaction of the achievement and I'd love to see an actual scaled retirement option, with flavour text according to how successful one was in the game. Finally, although the journey was not easy, and I have no clue how someone is expected to fulfill the initial contractual timeline, I think that the risks of the silk road seemed a littel easy on the player. The fabulous returns didn't fall from heaven and the player should have to deal with the possibility of being robbed, killed, falling seriously ill etc. I got ill several times and was quite short on supplies sometimes, but I was never threatened by this kind of serious problems and/or by competition. I'm no expert on the silk road and my perception about its challenges may be wrong though. At any rate, I do recommend the game, if you like trading games and are interested in this period of history.

In any game there comes that particular crossroad point of is there enough to keep me interested or do i go back to the old faithful ones. Four hours of game time in i think i have hit that crossroads. I am now wondering if there is more to it or have i had my fill. I had this game on my wishlist, and part of my decision to purchase was based on its pricing. I like the map set up, and the game icons are simple and to the point - which is a good thing. I concur about other reviewers statements about character development - the cat, the lute and the fishing rod. However, once the initial surprise of receipt is over, the actions around them seem disconnected and grindy. To be fair, the not wanting to disappoint my customers aspect of my gaming personality means I have not ventured too far to the East, as I want to meet my contract obligations. I think I will give it a little bit more - yomp all the way across to China just to say I did it. Also, it is a bit like some Netflix tv series, you want to watch one more episode just in case the best is still yet to come. Would I recommend it - actually I would. For the price it is not a bad game, and there are some very nice simple touches. I think Priory have produced a good game. However, if I may add a caveat, if you are like me and you hate repetition starting early in your games and things just seem repetitive - then this is not the game for you, regardless of price.

It has good and simple mechanics though, there isn't a lot to do, just trade 5-6 different things, go to china then boat back to Venice. Wish there was more content then there is, can't recommend for this reason.

This game is a gem in the rough, but as it is right now it's just too rough. This game isn't hard, there are some cool historical details, the music is nice, but gets repetitive quickly. The events are fun at first, but eventually it felt like I was only experiencing the same five events over and over again. The biggest problem with the game is that it didn't really feel like any of the stats mattered a whole lot or maybe I couldn't figure out how to raise them up to a point where they would. I also didn't feel like the journey was dangerous. where were the wild beasts and bandits? where were the desert sand storms or tumultuous sea voyages? Also The way that food is done is really annoying and un-intuitive. The game gives you the pounds needed, but then doesn't tell you how many rations are in a pound. I get that if I give food to someone, or if I didn't budget for winter and blizzards pin me down I starve, but why isn't one unit of rations = 1 pound of food? and if it's not then what is it equal too? When I purchased this game I was hoping for either a good story or a trade management game, but the game falls short on both sides. As a result, after the first play through I didn't want to play it again. If the game was 4-5 dollars I'd recommend, but I felt like some of the content should be more flushed out for that 7-8 dollar price point.

It's a nice little kill time game, but I find that a lot of the random events reoccur far too frequently. It would be a nicer game if there was more consequence and new dialogue each time, or at least, less repeating.

I love the concept of this game. Unfortunately there is just too little content to justify even its modest price. The game play is slow and repetitive. There are few genuine decisions to be made. The clip art is crude and unimaginative. The game could be salvaged if more events, consequential choices, and visuals are added.

I stumbled upon this game while looking through the Medieval tag on Steam. Wasn't sure what to make of it initially, but I'm happy to say that this game is quite good. This is a casual game similar to Oregon Trail where randomized events develop an emergent story your character experiences on their long journey. You get events frequently and the different choices presented end up evolving your character's statistics or impact your supplies/stock. I was impressed with the game's ability to make you slowly connect with your character with the choices you make along the way. During my journey, I adopted a cat that was a great companion in the caravan and I bought a lute which I initially was terrible with causing annoyance among others in the caravan. When nearing the end of my journey, I got an event where one of the companions handed me my lute to play a tune for the caravan. It was a pretty wholesome moment. Good indie game with an interesting setting proving I would be a terrible medieval merchant as I returned to fulfill my merchant contract 6 years later than I was supposed to.

for the first hour i was liking this game, by the third hour i had answered the same questions and make the same choices about ten times for each choice, not much replay ability and you will have seen all this game has to offer in two hours of play, not much randomness the right answer is the same answer the first time and the tenth time. try to play the game and stay under the two hours, you will have seen almost all of the game, and you will still be able to refund, if you get five hours out of this game i would say that is max.
