well worth it to kill some time the story is honeslty a little hard to follow at times but the fight mechanics are fun definitely reccommend putting shield as H instead of O though

This game is nothing else than beautiful.
Amongst all of good things this game has, pixel artstyle is what really grabbed my attention.
Combat system is good enough to not have players mash a lot of buttons to defeat foes, but not easy enough to press one button.
Story is very interesting and there also couple of interesting side quests.
Its a crime if you dont play this game.

This game is such a vibe. The atmosphere, the soundtrack, the story, everything. The combat is so unbelievably fun and surprisingly complex. You get to explore the world in 2.5D but the combat is 100% pure grade 2D action. It really hits all the notes for a killer experience and a great game to relax and immerse yourself in.

Highly recommend this game. The graphics are gorgeous, story is engaging, characters are interesting, and the combat is very fluid. Has a very metroid-vainia like feel with its 2D side scrolling feel during combat, and the environments feel very immersive.
LOVE IT! Would love to see a second game be released in the future! It's that good!

Excellent Cyberpunk hack and slash game, some mild RPG elements, a decent story with a great looking female protagonist. Only downside is the annoying AF sidekick

This game is all style and no substance.
Imagine if you've never read One Piece, and I tell you, "Hey dude, you need to start from chapter 790." You'll be completely lost, "Who are these people? What are these events they keep referencing? What is a devil fruit? What's going on?" That'll be your experience playing Anno: Mutationem. The "story" seems to be written in a way that attempts to make the world feel lived in, but it's ultimately shallow and vapid.
They all reference events that you never get to see or even learn about. Characters suddenly appear that seem to have known the main character for years, and we don't even get the most basic of basic introductions to them. The main character suffers from an illness, and characters constantly reference this illness, and the MC gets treatment for it during the game even, but I'm 6 hours in and I still have no clue what this illness even is or what it does. How am I supposed to care about this world and its characters with absolutely no information, no reason to care for them? The "story" in this game is absolutely nonsense garbage.
The side quests are a little better in this regard, but still very shallow. Solve this mystery here, kill these monsters for me there, collect these items, etc. As for the gameplay itself, it looks very pretty. The combat feels responsive and feels good to play. You have basic light/heavy attack thing going on. A gun that auto-reloads. Block, parry, dodge maneuvers. Chips to upgrade your gear with. It's all nice and fine.
The main issue is the story, or lack there of. I couldn't stomach playing any more of this after reaching the underground sewer robot cult thing because I just don't care about any of these characters or what happens to them. The developers failed to write a story compelling enough to compliment the game's great visuals and decent gameplay. Take away the story, and you have the same game, unchanged. It's that bad.
And devs, I know you reply to negative reviews. Unless you're willing to COMPLETELY REWRITE the story, don't bother replying to me. I'm not interested!

Really, reaaaallllyy tried my best to get into this game. The aesthetic is perfect - gorgeous pixel sprite work blended with 3D environments *chefs kiss*. However where it falls short is the not-so-great story, it's just not captivating enough for me to invest my time. The gameplay is interesting however poorly executed in my opinion. As others have said in previous reviews the anime tropes are real hard here and it does get pretty annoying lmao. I'd say give it a shot if it's on sale.

Amazing game! Great cyberpunk atmosphere! I had this game in my wishlist for a long time, thought it was just another platformer, turned out it's not. It plays as a platformer only during the combat/fight episodes, besides that you explore the world, talk to other characters, collect things, investigate, doing side quests, you even have your own apartment. I was really surprised how good the game is. Highly recommended!
P.S.: You can get all of the Steam Achievements in one playthrough (even playing on easy difficulty) and I really like that. It took me about 23 hours to complete the game with all achievements and all endings.

I would recommend this game, with some caveats.
This game is advertised as a cyberpunk world. "Cyberpunk" is more of a backdrop than a story element. Not much about the gameplay is really cyberpunk-ish, and the game drifts towards other settings regularly, namely
high fantasy
. This is not wrong, just not what I was expecting.
The story is... okay. It's not bad, but it's also not something you'll be obsessing over. Some things were too explained to be intriguing, and other things were left lacking.
A lot of things felt inspired by Remedy's game Control and its influences, from metroidvania-like navigation to power progression.
The game suffers with a lack of dramatic timing. A lot of spoken dialogue seems rushed with no pause between sentences when the character in question was running and hiding and really ought to sound out of breath. Other times, things seem slowed down, too much time between sentences or actions.
Graphics are gorgeous. I love this style and how it was done. And it is gorgeous throughout.
The combat is where this game shines. It feels good, responsive. Ann moves how I intend, controls are tight, attacks are dramatic and have good feedback. I did end up rebinding some keys: H to transform and I to block, because I kept mixing it up. (I am on a QWERTY English layout keyboard)
Of course, this is a smaller team, and what they have done is quite amazing! The game lacks a bit of polish, but that comes with the indie and RPG territories.
Overall, if you like pretty art and good combat, I recommend this on sale. It feels a bit pricey at no discount for the ~13 hours of playtime I got out of it.
If you want a cohesive world and story that go together, maybe not.
