project BLARI it's kind of a mix bag. At the surface, it's premise and PS1 aesthetic look interesting; a third person horror, with a semi open world to explore... Looks enticing, doesn't play amazing. In the first seconds you will be left confused by the camera, button mashing needed to sprint, and English translations that change halfway to French, without you touching the settings, that, amazingly enough, were left also in French. The history is told through notes, or rather papers with mathematic equations that I failed to understand, and, to close the deal, the slowest escort mission to ever been invented, since RE4 came out. The price tag is, unfortunately, rather expensive for a product that clearly wasn't tested or finished and will never be. The devs seemed to have forgotten the game exists, and preferred to move on to different games. You can check how the game runs on Steam Deck by pressing the link below: https://youtu.be/P7U0xwaqICU

Bought this game because I watched someone playing it Youtube. It looked interesting, and was very cheap. But honestly, I can't recommend Project Blari in its current state. The idea of semi-open world Survival Horror and having choices/side-quests that can determine which ending you get and which NPCs survive is great. Sadly this game executes that, and all of its mechanics, in an awfully boring and lackluster way, when games from the PS1 era it tries to hommage handled those things much better. The few side quests given by NPCs are basically just "bring me X item from Y place" with practically nothing in the way that could challenge you to get said item. The multiple "different" endings are more or less all the same, essentially there are two endings, and the others are just practically insignificant variations of those two and a different text over black screen at the end. And good luck if you want to get all endings anyway, because what you have to do to get each of them is not intuitive at all, so you'll need a guide, and the couple of guides that exist are in French. And speaking about French, the game doesn't actually have full English translation despite what the store page says, files and certain other texts remain in French. The enemies are just: -Black tentacles stationed around specific walls/doors -Zombies that are stupidly easy to just walk past because they have almost zero detection range unless you're running. -An invincible enemy that you have to spam a key to run away if it spots you. So whether or not you get the only weapon in the game (a handgun) makes virtually no difference since it can only kill the zombies which are practically harmless unless you're playing dumb anyway. There are also basic QoL missing such as Y axis invert. Being an indie game doesn't justify bland gameplay that has almost nothing interesting to offer and gets boring extremely quick, not when there are amazing old school horror-themed games like Signalis, Tormented Souls, and Song of Horror out there. PS: This game is very short, but if you want to get all endings for the sake of getting 100% completion, I recommend manually doing save backups so you don't have to start from the beginning everytime (game uses auto saves). The save files are located inside AppData\Local\projet_BLARI\Saved\SaveGames\BLARI_1.1

I am going to consider this as one of the best games so far. The game gives you some vibes of Max payne 1 except it has different environment and storyline. I really enjoyed the game, first 2 3 minutes i got annoyed by the graphics but after that I became used to. The gameplay and environment all looks awesome to me , definitely recommended. I played this game non stop for an hour without getting bored .

Decent little horror game. Only thing I dislike is that you have to spam space to run, that's annoying.

Bite sized horror game that's equally weird and intense. It's a bit too janky to really be considered "scary" but some parts got my heart pumping. The game's generous checkpoints help make the bugs less frustrating, but they also remove a lot of tension from the experience. If you're a casual horror fan and games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill seem a bit out of your league, give Project BLARI a try !

Who would have guessed PS1 stylized games and surrealism would be such a good mix? The game has absolutely an unique atmosphere due to its surrealistic elements, which is a hard thing to achieve considering the stylized PS1 B-Horror games are getting a bit saturated by now. Both the visuals and sound design make up to be a great fit in the genre without feeling like a complete '' HEY, LOOK AT MY INDIE PS1 COOL GAME, IT'S OLDSCHOOL '' like most of the games of the sort lately. It doesn't stress out with cheap jump scares or ear-raping sound design but I'm pretty sure 8yo me would have shat my pants playing this. Basically, it doesn't try hard and just feels right. As for criticism, there's lack of replay value, it's a short game ( about 60-80 mins ) but has multiple endings. Those multiple endings would add to the replay value but they are seriously so anti climatic that it makes it just not enough ( I've finished two of them, I do plan on doing the others but eh who knows when ). The fact the documents language is not region-based also doesn't help. While being in french gives 'em a charm and the story might be meh anyways, sometimes you're invested in the atmosphere and curious to know more about characters, the world, etc. I was very disappointed by that. Anyways, it deserves to be played and will be looking foward to new projects from the developer!

Not too bad for a try at survival horror. Possible suggestions would be a map system and probably some more pointers on where to go and who to speak to. Lol @ the french speaking zombies(or whatever they are).

Playing this game really took me back growing up in the 90's playing my ps1. It reminds me a bit of Silent hill, Resident evil but very basic. Although I loved the atmosphere i dont know if nostalgia is taking over or if this game is really as nice to play for everyone! Nevertheless i really enjoy it and you should give it a try! But there is a downside! They did not take the effort and translate the documents so non french speakers don't get the full story. But if you really want to you can use Google lens on your phone to translate it for you. 8/10

For a game coded by a single person, Project BLARI is a game that at first, seems to be a simple retro / horror game like any other, but I can tell you it isn't ! Pros : - The Enemies you encounter are easy to predict and counter if you know how to, a brand new player will have some trouble at first but after some playtime, you can basically counter all enemies easily. (this can be a Pro and a Con, depending on personal opinions) - The attention to realism is well made ! you can't just turn your camera and check behind you, your view is represented by Terence ! The LORE of the game only adds up on it, the small details can tell you a lot about the complex story this game has ! - Multiple available endings with some side quests to help obtain them ! I've personally got the "Coward" ending and the "Common Good Ending" no spoilers of course :) Cons : - A few visual bugs here and then, like some textures being invisible on certain parts. - One softlock bug when if you spam E to skip though dialogues, you can get softlocked and you'll be unable to move. Should be fixed soon so don't take my work for granted ! - the FR -> EN translation could use some more work, plus some parts are not translated at all, the dev is french after all, so it's understandable on my end, especially considering im also french anyway ! Final Verdict : a good 9/10 If you have some spare money and you want a cheap horror game to try out with some friends on a discord call or just for yourself, go for it ! your money will be well spent !

Don't bother buying this game unless you're at least moderately fluent in French. Despite this title being marked as full English for the interface and subtitles, most of the interface options remain in French, there are several interactions that are not translated, and none of the notes (which are the key to making any sort of sense out of the story at all) are translated. I understand that English isn't the only language on Earth, but don't mark your title as having full support unless it actually has full support. For what it's worth, Project BLARI seems to be a basic and boring simulated PS1 horror game with areas that are far too large and empty, no manual save system, no atmosphere, and bland gameplay. You'll be simply wandering around big environments while attempting to find the items that the game wants you to get to progress; you'll eventually stumble into these areas after aimlessly searching empty room after empty room. There are some NPCs that will talk to you, but you really can't make sense of what's going on with these conversations alone. I'm not going to officially rate this game since I didn't finish it, nor did I play much of it. But from what I did experience, and the footage I sped through on YouTube, I'd go as far to say that there are many other reviews here generously inflating this game's positive rating. Especially considering there are two reviews that simply say "yes", from suspicious-looking accounts. The enemies are one-hit killers and the game is riddled with bugs and glitches galore, which will only add annoyance to the already infuriatingly vague campaign. Proceed with caution.
