The Host is accually fun. The exploration is entertaining enough to keep me playing and I will play more. I thing it is a good try for 2 dollors.
But the visuals arent great and will be a deal breaker for some but i got used to it in just a short while. The combat seems a little basic and plain. All and all I like it for 2 dollors.

Sometimes you wanna play some fun jank, and this is one of them.
Feels like someone learned programming cause they really liked Ocarina of Time, which isn't a bad thing at all.
Lots of hidden stuff, pretty freeform, and from what I've played (including some non-steam time in the demo) it keeps you on your toes with weird stuff all around.
Unlike a lot of jank this seems more fun than pain. Exploring actually feel oddly rewarding and the content is pretty varied.
Combat ranges from pretty fun to button mashey and random. Overall, the game is pretty easy at the beginning though and I mostly died to platforming. I did have some small bugs that blocked progression (like in the crypt fighting the green guy the fight never ended).
Edit: The dev has fixed everything I mentioned in my first Update!
Update 2:
This game gets hard towards the end if you're not playing very well. It's fun if you don't mind trying to cheese out enemies and bosses. It's never straight up unfair, but you do lose your healing items on death so you have to play either perfectly or very carefully.
Update 3:
I beat this game a bit back and forgot to update my review. I actually really like this game and it stuck in my head for some reason. It's total jank but I look forward to whatever the creator makes next. I recommend playing it to see if it's your kind of jank too.
