If you like the Darksouls series or any game similar to it, Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro or any game that has to do with Japanese folkore and history, then this game is for you. Just be ready to nerd rage alot and make sure you have atleast 2 sets of controllers because you will most likely break one of them from raging alot. But this game is fun as hell so totally worth the brain vessel damage

The first third of the game is a torture simulator where the slightest touch of enemies could send you to meet Lord Buddha. But if you could persevere past that point, you would realize there is so much content you might even forget what grass actually feels like.

one of the more in-depth souls-like games i have ever played. it's really only a souls-like on a surface level anyway, as it is more akin to ninja gaiden, given the dev team. great combat, great build diversity, and endlessly re-playable. if you are a souls fan or action game fan then you will love this.
the biggest complaint i have is the story is like... not interesting? and the level design is not bad but incredibly simple, but i think it plays into the loop so you can finish levels faster. easily one of my top 5 games of all time.

A fantastic and challenging game set in my favorite era of feudal Japan, but also encompassing vast swaths of ancient Japanese mythology; letting you face off against both terrifying oni and warriors of legend. This is a fun journey but one that demands a certain kind of patience.
If you enjoyed Nioh, this is more of the same, but with some mechanics altered a bit (Guardian Spirits, the skill tree, etc) and some things added. The combat flow is still incredibly fun - dancing between stances and using your ki-pulse to recover stamina keeps things dynamic and busy, but it also doesn't feel frenetic in a way that you're constantly sweating to stay alive (at least prior to the second NG cycle, or on certain bosses). You'll see some pretty-obviously reused assets from the first game that have been polished, which isn't really a complaint because the game as a whole is fun and more honed than the first outing. I would definitely recommend playing that first game as well!

I mean, what is there to say about this game? I'm 280 hours deep, and I’m still just scratching the surface in terms of content and systems. The combat mechanics in this game are deeper than all other Souls-like games combined there’s just no end to this combat system. Absolute perfection. There’s nothing like it, and it’s not even close...
Every time I come back to it, I’m reminded of how satisfying it is to play and how easy it is to sink countless hours into mastering the different weapons.
Gameplay is everything, and this game gets it!

Check me out..
Nioh 2 is like Nioh 1, but better in every conceivable way. The DNA of the first game is still here. If Nioh 1 is the bedrock, Nioh 2 is the house built on it. This is a complex game, and it has to be because the game gives you as much freedom and control as possible to build your character, weapons, and armor. There is a lot of loot, but don't let it overwhelm you -- you can turn it into gold, amrita (exp), or materials to build that perfect piece. You could take your starter weapons and equipment and bring it to the end game if you really wanted to. Koei Tecmo is literally telling us to go crazy with it and have fun -- and I'm here for it.

Even more refined and solid soulslike gameplay. Somehow they added more systems and depth to an already chock full of skills and choice game, Nioh. Classic.

Maybe the greatest melee action game ever. Better than Dark Souls combat, Diablo style loot. Amazing.

I truly don't understand people saying this is too hard. The start is a little rough, but nothing serious. Once you start getting a feel for the mechanics it gets a good bit easier. I get that people like to compare it to Soulslikes, but that's not a good comparison at all. Soulslikes are played slowly and methodically, whereas this is played at blinding speed. My advice is to find a weapon you like all three stances on and practice with it until you understand how to flow from one stance to the others. Don't forget to Ki Pulse. Don't forget about Flow. And for the love of god, this isn't a Soulslike.
