This is a fantastic little escape room, took my brother and I about an hour.
I've played a lot of these escape room games on Steam now, and this one I think is my favorite. The graphics won't blow you away, the puzzles aren't incredibly complex, but it's just good simple fun puzzle solving. And my goodness the price is amazing, I think I got it on sale for like $2.
I wish this author would make more! (I wasn't as much of a fan of his other one, "Escape from Skill Island" or something like that, but it's still worth a play especially for the price.)

Not much to say but want to give a recommendation as the game has so few reviews.
Well designed puzzles, with no moon logic required. The difficulty felt just right, where right as we felt that we maybe needed to check a walkthrough, we figured it out. The rooms themselves felt a bit bare, and not much happened physicality-wise, but it did make it feel more like a real escape room. If you're not excited by the reward of a puzzle being just that another door opens, you might want to get a game that costs a bit more. There are no flashy animations or cutscenes.
For the price and what it's trying to be, I think it was pretty good.

Very nice game.
Only one map but totaly worth it!
Nevermind the pixel graphics, they are just fine for this kind of game.
Best played with 3 other friends

Fun little game. Certain things weren't used but not uncommon with escape rooms. Had a fun time with my girlfriend other.
First portion of the horror mode felt a bit discouraging for solving puzzles that you had to concentrate on as you had to also keep an eye out for spooks. I also had to protect my girlfriend from the baddies in second portion while she did the puzzles.
Also I literally had to unplug my VR as the game kept booting it up. The first time we attempted this I left the VR running, but when my VR automatically turned itself off because of inactivity, it also closed the game. I had to literally unplug it to play this game, only a tiny bit of hassle just weird as I don't think this game even supports VR.

Amazing game! Really had fun my friend whilst playing it! Includes a variety of puzzles ranging from the periodic table to country flags (not as hard as you think, I suck at chemistry and still managed it lol!) Overall incredible chill fun to play game for a considerable price. Check it out! I also played their other Escape game (Escape from Skull Dungeon) Which was as fun.
Really great game, wish they would release more puzzle games since they only have 2 which I both played and finished, haha!

About one-hour long, fairly easy escape room game.
Even though I had fun, I don't think it's quite worth it at full price as there are cheaper or free (including demos of paid games) options you can find that last longer with equal or superior quality. I guess what may set this game apart (and maybe make it worth more) is the option for online co-op mode, but I did not try it. I got it at 50% off and that may be a more fair price.
There are essentially two main levels. I played it in solo mode. Beware there is no save game function.

Good way to spend an hour. Finished it in about 40 or so mins with a friend.
Could refund it but won't because developers deserve it for creating a fun little game.

Escape from Kyoto House is a game that emulates the cooperative gameplay of a live-action escape room. This genre of game is all about the puzzles, so for the most part, don't expect heart-pumping action. You're here to primarily use your wits, not your fists.
PROS:
+ Challenging, but logical puzzles.
+ Solving puzzles doesn't require outside knowledge.
+ Designed for cooperative play (up to four people).
+ Time limit is optional.
+ Extra mode called "Horror mode" which turns off the lights, adds monsters, shuffles around the puzzles, and includes the possibility of death.
+ Can choose from numerous male and female characters (of all different races) to play.
+ Doesn't require a major commitment to play.
+ Low system requirements.
+ Very simple controls.
+ Separate sliders for music and sound.
+ Can reset items if something somehow got lost or stuck.
+ Inexpensive at $4.99 CAD. Amount will vary based on your local currency.
NEUTRAL:
+/- Minecraft-like graphics appeal to some people, but not others.
+/- Emphasis on co-op gameplay may be a drawback to people without friends who enjoy solving puzzles (although you can play EfKH in solo mode).
+/- No achievements or playing cards. Personally, I don't care about either, but I know some people find this important.
CONS:
- Character selection is limited (only pre-made characters) and a bit wonky. The character I chose ended up looking different in the game.
- The lack of inventory is annoying since it means you can only hold one item at a time and may need to backtrack.
- Sometimes movement is almost too smooth, and can be an issue for those who easily get motion sickness. I didn't have this problem, but my wife did.
- Can't save your progress. My wife and I felt like leaving the game at one point, but had to make a choice between sticking it out or redoing everything we'd already done.
- Very short. It took my wife and I a bit over two hours to complete the game (and we played without a timer and didn't rush through it), and I imagine we took longer than many others.
- Except for Horror Mode, there is no replay value whatsoever. In the normal mode (with or without a timer), the puzzles don't change and nothing is randomized, so once you've completed the game, there's very little point to playing it again.
- Options menu has very limited graphical choices. For instance, a POV slider is absent, but would be a nice option and could potentially alleviate some problems people have with motion sickness.
- Can't play on Linux or Mac OS.
- No Steam cloud. This probably isn't an issue as there's nothing to save, but I always include this note anyway.
Verdict: Would I recommend Escape from Kyoto House? If you've got friends or family who enjoy escape rooms and solving puzzles, and you don't mind the limited replay value, then yes, I would. The price is low (less than what most people would end up paying to rent a movie) and this could be a fun, relaxing endeavor for people who want something a little different.
