Great classic point and click fun! super funny writing that reminded me of the show Red dwarf . ill admit at the end the climax puzzle gave me some troubles(but i was getting impatient so that's on me) but overall the puzzles were great fun to solve. it has voice acting for pretty much everything too. good game, I recommend it.

Don't be fooled by simplistic graphics, this is a full-blown high quality adventure game featuring very clever puzzle design and lots of healthy humor. Playing it was a real joy. Labor of love, there's no doubt about it.

(Follow my curator for more reviews like this) Fun little adventure game in the style of Lucas Arts classics. The puzzles are mostly fair and solvable. There isn't much pixel hunting (the game even has a joke in one area where you can click on a single weird pixel, and your character comments "This isn't that kind of adventure game."), most of the puzzles feel logical. As an adventure game veteran I would rate them more towards the easy side, but they still require a bit of thinking. The only puzzles I found a little annoying were the ones that require you to wait around for an NPC to leave his spot, or listen to conversations that happen in the background to get a hint for one puzzle. My favorite puzzle was the one in your spaceship, when the hand scanner doesn't recognize your hand because it's too clean and you have to add all kinds of dirt to your fingers. The humor is pretty decent throughout, although a little over-reliant on references. You'll see a lot of Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Space Quest, and other popular sci-fi and adventure game franchises referenced in this game. While the game's jokes are pretty good when it puts some effort into them, I don't find references that funny on their own. For example, you get to explore a junk heap and there's the Voyager from Star Trek and the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars, just because. Is it cute? I guess. Is it funny? Not really. Does it break the fourth wall? Absolutely. The game has a lot of creative alien races of its own, so it's not like all these references were necessary. I'm just not a fan of shoving in references to other sci-fi franchises for no reason. The story is pretty fun, your main character is an even more bumbling idiot than Roger Wilco, and the NPCs are various flavors of goofballs. Just what you'd expect from a classic humorous point & click. The humor is very close to Space Quest, but the gameplay is of the Lucas Arts school: no dead ends, no deaths. If you like classic Lucas Arts style adventure games, this will be right up your alley. Recommended.

TLDR: Captain Disaster is Superb! This is a game that really meant a lot to me! I think at times, it's easy for me to want to sob over my collection of never growing LucasArts titles and remember the glory days... Then a game like this comes along and says "Hey, Monkey Island ain't the only game in town!" Yes, it pays homage to the greats, but it is just chocked full or zane, fun, and silliness itself. Truly a worthy addition to the annals of #pointandclick glory based on it's clever humor alone! So, the writing is great, the puzzles are challenging but fun, the graphics are charming and add a little nostalgia from the glory days of point and click, and I thoroughly enjoyed the music and voice acting. Great pacing on the story and locations as well! This game gives me hope that point and click games can still be wild, funny, and well made all at the same time! So a huge thanks to Dave Seaman and team for your excellent contribution to the genre. "If there is anything I can do well, it's create a disaster." "Captain Disaster in: Death Has A Million Stomping Boots" is a humorous old-school Point & Click game telling a silly story about a sloppy spaceship captain who gets himself into all kind of unusual situations. I found the game to be a big improvement compared to its free prequel "The Dark side of the moon". It has better graphics, much less pixel hunting and offers a longer playtime. The devs must also have had a lot of fun imagining all the peculiar aspects of the game. Progress in the game is done through trials and errors and a thorough exploration of the environment: - Click on everything you see (left-click to interact with/pick up an object, right-click on a object to get some funny comment or hint) - Talk to everyone and explore all dialogues choices - Try to combine any items in your inventory with any other inventory items or objects in your environment. - Try different solutions of a puzzle to see how it affects it until you get things right. In all, that was a really fun game to play and I am curious to see what the devs have planned for the next opus.

Definitely a must for adventure game fans. Some of the puzzles in this are great, I especially enjoyed the mid-section of the game and the puzzle with the state of his hand. If I had any criticism at all it would be about the quality of the sound for some of the voices (not the actual voices themselves, they were great). The fact that it's fully voiced is awesome though. Also, the "Outrun" music! :D

Captain Disaster in blah blah blah stomping boots is a wonderful little graphic adventure game. It's low budget, there aren't many locations, the interface is janky, the developers are also the voice actors, but it's thoroughly entertaining. The protagonist is the typical useless, unlikable slob that classic adventure games feature so often. And everything else about this is classic too. Timed puzzles. Wacky characters. The pop culture references come fast and furious. But - unlike a lot of other games which go heavy on the references - this one doesn't come across as trying too hard. I think it's because it has legitimately good puzzles in its own right. Of course they are utterly absurd, but they're very deftly hinted, so if you listen closely to the dialog and pay attention to the descriptions of all the items, it's possible to figure out the solution based only on what they give you. The downside is that you still need to pixel hunt. In a modern adventure game, this frustration would be solved by having a reveal hotspots button, but I suspect the engine the devs used is too old to have that feature. Maybe something for the next one, eh? Anyway, if you like funny oldskool adventure games, this should be right up your alley.

Captain Disaster is a very intriguing and charming sci-fi comedy title, that's definitely recommended if you like point and clicks, especially of retro aesthetics and absurd humour variety! I mean, what other game features great writing, intuitive interface, talking space pizza, nose people, bumbling captains, literal million stomping boots and sarcastic navigational computers? This game has it all, I tell you!

My playtime may look low as I have already played Death Has A Million Stomping Boots on other platforms. Death Has a Million Stomping Boots is a point-and-click comedy adventure in which you are a hapless space captain who is off to pick up and deliver a package. This plan quickly goes off the rails! If you would like to get a sense of the style of humor in this game, feel free to check out the free prequel, The Dark Side of the Moon, also available on Steam. Death Has a Million Stomping Boots is quite jokey, with lots of colorful characters, situation humor, and nods and references to other games, as well as films and television series. The humor is light and upbeat without ever feeling too forced. There is a scene with a talking pizza that is especially funny. The title character is a likable sort of dude as well; as is the supporting cast. Overall, the game is a joy to play. The puzzles tend to punch above their weight class, as well. The second act has three really satisfying puzzle chains back-to-back-to-back, very well designed. The developer of this game is also really active in supporting indie game development and really just seems like a stand-up sort of dude. There’s really no reason not to grab this game up right this minute.

This is a delightful game that uses a traditional point and click interface. It has all the elements of a successful adventure... witty dialog, funny cut-scenes, well acted voice-overs, a silly story, quests with obscure solutions, and a hero you can't help but like. In a word, it is just plain fun to play! You control Captain Disaster as he navigates the cosmos, picking up and delivering a package. What should be a simple errand sets off a chain events that will keep you smiling through the entire game. Cultural references are constant and puzzles range from easy (if you are paying attention to the clues) to obtuse. In the end, I never minded 'try this, try that' problem solving because the accompanying narrative kept me entertained. The pixel art is noteworthy. Despite the low resolution, the amount of detail provided in the environment and on the character's face is pretty amazing. I recommend this to any gamer who appreciates a good story and who has a sense of humor. My hope is that we will see Captain Disaster again in the future...
