At first I was a bit sceptical, since look & feel are so heavily "inspired" by the Blasphemous games, that it might have been a rip-off. Fortunately that is not the case and I see it as absolutely equal, maybe even better. The pixel graphics, animations and sound effects are extremely polished. The music contributes to the dark atmosphere, but don't expect memorable themes like in Castlevania. The world is quite large and contains diverse regions - it might be even larger than in the Blasphemous games (no proof, just a feeling). Combat is quite challenging at times, but always satisfying. For some bosses I had to try more than one hour, but their attack patterns become clear after a while and then it is very rewarding to finish them off. It is one of the few games, where I become an (unsuccessful) achievement hunter. I didn't get all
family crests
, but it was still a lot of fun to unlock alternative endings. If you like Metroidvania games (especially Blasphemous or Castlevania SOTN) you need to play this. You won't regret it!

Excellent soulsvania. Strong influence but its own thing. Not actually that hard so far, more of a persistence requirement. Rewarding gameplay with decent versatility about how to approach the task, and a fun map to unlock. I feel like Dead Cells onboarders will be especially skill-equipped for its combat mechanics but this is not that. Good controls.
A fun blend of Dark Souls risk and general style with a well-accommodated SotN-style 'vania RPG platformer, with excellent art direction and an intricate map to puzzle out. The story is admittedly pretty standard for the genre, the action and explorations is the main draw.

dont listen to the haters, this game is fantastic, anyone complaining about this game has serious emotional problems. Its awesome, I legitimately give this a 10/10.
Its honestly one of the best games I've played in recent years, I honestly think this is as good as bioshock, dark souls 3, and deus ex human revolution (some of the best games of all time). The devs actually put thought into this and you can feel how much love they put into this game. It is honestly completely worth your time.
My playtime was all legit playtime, hardly any idling, there is a lot of game here. Do yourself a favor and buy this game.

If Blasphemous and Bloodborne had a child then something like this would have been created. Everything has too much hp, backtracking is annoying. the control of eric is like you are controlling a coal wagon.
And the developers left the support of the game. And it should not be like that
Buy Blasphemous instead of this thing

Blown away by the negative reviews for this game. The Last Faith is better than 95% of metroidvanias on Steam. It's as good as games like Blasphemous, I liked it so much I went for 100%.
If this game looks interesting to you and you're not sure whether you should get it. It's definitely worth it, it's not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be (outside of 2 bosses). It's a solid game.

I like Bloodborne / Souls games. I like Metroidvanias. So why don't I like what is clearly a "Bloodborne-vania"?
I was initially enthralled by the ability and weapon system. You can shoot offhand guns and transform your weapon, again just like in Bloodborne. The pixel art, Victorian setting etc. is obviously beautiful as well. Well, unlike Bloodborne you don't have rallying to recharge lost health, and you can't parry bosses and riposte them either. That's fair enough but without balancing their health to account for that, the boss fights starts to feel a bit like a chore where you're mostly moving from side to side and hitting them with what feels like a wet noodle. I say side to side because you can't do almost anything during a jump so you have to rely mostly on your roll if you want to keep your damage up.
Leveling DEX feels pretty bad since the STR weapons are way more interesting. Guns feel borderline useless, so many enemies have such a low profile that your bullet just whiffs and as I said you can't even shoot it while jumping. Some spells are cool, there is one that is reminiscent of the classic Axe in Castlevania but you can't use it in the air either... So investing in spells or bullet damage feels shitty given the amount of time you spend in the air. The attack you do after a successful parry is nothing to get excited over as it may as well be a basic attack, and you can't parry anything a boss does, so what's the point?
Healing is finite at vendors and can be a random drop or piece of loot, although you'll get at least 4 for any boss attempt. That would be plenty if not for the aforementioned wet noodle problem.
It's not even that I expect or believe that this game is literally supposed to be 2D Bloodborne. It just does so much shameless emulation, while missing its core combat mechanic and neglecting to replace it with anything original, interesting, or useful, so there's just this glaring void that you can't help but notice. I've seen so many comparisons to said game, that I feel like anyone expecting this to deliver on that comparison might walk away rather disappointed the way I did. Also even for a metroidvania the map exploration honestly feels like shit.
I just can't recommend this in good faith (no pun intended) to someone who is expecting a good Soulslike and/or metroidvania experience because I feel like it doesn't deliver well enough on either front.
