Aesthetically, this is a very lovely game, particularly the environment. Were that to be the only consideration of this review, I'd have given this game an easy thumbs up.
The narrative is the entire context of this game. While there is some subtle story telling which takes place across collectibles, I found it to otherwise be a bit lacking. For me, at least, the dialogue was largely flat, and the plot a bit strained.
The mini-games present no particular skill test in any capacity, didn't meaningfully tie into the context of the narrative, and largely felt like hurdles to progress.
Individually, these features may not have bothered me much; however, the game has a shockingly unforgiving series of points of no return within chapters, which come out of nowhere. This is terribly frustrating when you realize you forgot to pick up a sticker, walk out your front door, and immediately can't turn around to retrieve it. While there is a chapter select, there largely is no method of expediting content completed, which could mean replaying 10 minutes of gardening just to get a single missed collectible. One achievement I'm fairly sure can only be achieved during an uninterrupted single play through.

A beautiful adventure that puts you in the shoes of Mimi, spending a summer at her grandmothers house.

Beautiful visuals, beautiful story. The game is only 3 hours so I can't give away too much, but I can say the charm you expect to be there is all there and then some. If you like charming little games adventure games, this is a perfect example of one, and is very worth your time.

These kinds of story driven pseudo visual novel games aren't usually my cup of tea, but I genuinely enjoyed Dordogne. The art style is captivating and fun while also suitable for the emotional moments of the game. The story is well written and on a highly relatable subject, of reconnecting to your past and family. I'd recommend this game! its a great 3-4 hour game to play on a sunday afternoon.

Amazing art style, interesting story, but the control scheme gets in its own way. Puzzles feel. . . needless?
I think this game would be improved if it didn't try to be a "game" and tried to be an experience instead. Just remove the "puzzles" like unlocking a door with a key, or brewing tea by dragging things around with a mouse that just resets arbitrarily and the whole experience would be much smoother. Look at life is strange... It doesn't try to be a game. You make decisions that matter to the story, and experience that story. That is enough for an adventure game.
