While the concept of the game is great, right now, everything surrounding that concept is incredibly barebones. There's little variation in the situations you're faced with as you escort your convoy across the atlantic. The two most dramatic scenarios that can occur (a scattered convoy and an ice field) also appear to be some of the rarest, and the only real variation is the number of ships you need to protect and the number of U-Boats you're faced with. In its current state, I can't recommend this game, even on sale.

How about you finish this game and actually put more work into it instead of creating "Robin in Da hood" whatever that means, and "Sherman Commander" which, both, look like dog shit regardless, but it's still audacious you would abandon development on this child of potential for that.

A game that could have been great but now its abandon by the devs. The grafix feels like its from 2004, the IA its a bit strange and the only thing you do is to try and sink subs. There is a career mode, but it does not feel there are any progression in you career, just new battles that difference in location, number of subs and escorts. If you had the ability to upgrade your boat, you and your crex got som XP points that you could track etc. It would make much more sence.

Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter had all the right ingredients to be a standout naval warfare game. The premise of commanding a destroyer in the brutal U-Boat hunting campaigns of WWII is incredibly appealing, and the atmosphere is ripe for tension-filled naval engagements. Sadly, the game feels like a shadow of what it could have been, abandoned by its developers far too soon.
While the core concept of the game is great, the execution leaves much to be desired. The gameplay, at first, seems promising—tracking and hunting U-boats, managing ship systems, and engaging in strategic combat should provide an immersive experience. However, it quickly becomes clear that the game is lacking in polish and depth. The controls are clumsy, the AI is inconsistent, and mission variety is sorely lacking, making the experience feel repetitive far too quickly.
What’s most disappointing, though, is the fact that *Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter* seems to have been abandoned by the developers. Bugs and performance issues have lingered for far too long, with no significant updates or improvements in sight. It feels as if the developers launched the game, made a few minor tweaks, and then moved on to other projects, leaving the game in an unfinished, broken state. The lack of community engagement and attention to user feedback only adds to the feeling that this was a game with immense potential, but the developers gave up on it far too early.
It’s frustrating to see a game that could have been a great naval simulation turn into a missed opportunity. If you’re looking for a truly engaging and fully fleshed-out experience, Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter isn’t it. The game may have had a promising start, but without proper updates and care, it’s hard to recommend it in its current state.
