Game has its flaws, but it does bring back memories of building toy train layouts in childhood. I do wish they'd give us at least one caboose. I know I could learn to design one, but I don't really want to do that.

I bought this game a while ago and it did work properly, but as of recently, when I tried booting the game up, right after it finishes loading it crashes. This happens every time I try to boot up the game. The Steam version is clearly broken and the developers have never bothered fixing the game.

I used to own this game years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw that it had popped up on steam and decided to buy it again. I was very disappointed to find that whilst building a layout, the game crashes every 15-20 minutes or so. This occurs when trying to scroll through the objects menus, with the game freezing, forcing me to quit the game. I have tried numerous things to try and fix the issue, including a full reinstall, trying different save files etc. I tried contacting the devs a few days ago but didn't hear back and am not hopeful of a reply. Due to my multiple attempts at fixing the issues I have amassed a playtime of over two hours, meaning I can't refund. It's a shame because I had a great experience with the game the first time around. I would advise some caution if you are planning on buying, as it appears I am not alone with my problem. If you experience the same issue and have a fix then let me know.

I decided to get a refund on this item. Icons are very small and set up of track, etc. is way to tedious and not user friendly. A huge disappointment as I am a model railroad fan and just don't have the space or money for the real thing at the moment.

[EDIT:] I don't recommend the Steam version anymore. It's bugging out at least 5 times per hour, and is showing stuff as black blobs just before killing itself. If you have bought this program, you have the registered version at least. Download the 1.5 version from Brainbombers, take the js.bin file from Steams and put that in the Real version. Anything else you have uploaded is easily transfered afterwards. The only Real difference in the BB-version is that you can't move the camera with your mouse, you have to use the two buttons up right. The program in itself is as explained below. It's good. The Steam version just doesn't work. Let's start with two major things: 1. This is a Model Railway editor, a programme designed to help you make your own model railway, without having to bother with cost and space for a real one. It's NOT a game. 2. This editor was made in 1999 for the Win95/Win98/NT, and hasn't changed much since. It's NOT a new programme. I want this to be totally clear, so you don't waste your money on something it is NOT. So what do you get? A lot, I would say. The demo-plans that are inside, shows how much and even if they look hard to make, they're not. Laying tracks, fixing controls for power and switches, build environment and so on, all are covered in the 24 pages tutorial. Let's get something else straight as well; I got the demo for this editor back in 2002, and I've been waiting to get a chance to own it since. I'm biased to say the least. It's a very good editor, and it's simplicity makes it worth the cents/pennies/öre that it costs, IMO. Pros: * The Tutorial, nuff said, * The amount of rolling stock, * The ease to lay tracks, * Connecting two tracks is made easily, * The board can be changed in width and length at any time, * The possibility to repaint buildings within the editor, * The possibility to edit the rolling stock in for example Paint.net, * Camera on the engine!, * Possibility to exchange track plans with other RtR-owners. * There are people on the net, making more stuff (Littleville Depot-folks). Cons: * No ctrl-Z to regret last move/action, * Way too tiny icons for an old man to see, * Use of different methods to move objects and camera angles, * Could really use some more tracks, like a cross, different switches, more straights, * Roads are only in four directions and with no curves, * A bit boring houses, not that modern, (could use some mods). All in all, a good editor that could be better. But I doubt it will, because who would want to do some work on a 20 year old programme? So if you buy this, do not expect any updates or new things. The Brainbomber crew is long gone, and who knows what the Redbrick Ltd wants, except earning money. But I'm having fun and recommend it for people like me. Thank You.
