I honestly tried to give this game a chance, but primitive fighting mechanic and resource grind like in MMO made me gave up. Also, storyline is full of cliche, definetely not the most interesting amongst RPGs.Don`t understand from where is so much positive reviews...

Okay, I may have just started this game, but I am already BLOWN away! The graphics are, BEAUTIFUL, the gameplay is smooth, the story is already SO engaging! This game is perfect. And it is easy to jump into the story and feel comfortable with it even if you didn't play the previous two games. But I am someone who has, and I love importing the world states to morph the world more into my own.

This game is pretty much just garbage. I'll start with the good. 1. The game is very pretty. 2. Some of the characters I met seemed pretty interesting and had some decent writing. 3. Using the tactical mode in combat was mildly enjoyable. Thats it, there is nothing else I find redeeming about this game. The bad will have to be broken up into different parts. Firstly the combat. Unless you are playing on casual (the lowest difficulty) all the enemies have humongous health bars that take forever to kill. This wouldnt be a big issue if the fight was interesting the whole time, but it really just amounts to you spaming the same combos over and over and over again until they are finally dead. You can either just control your character out of a party of four who will use AI to control themselves or you can use tactical mode to control all of the characters in a paused state, which you then unpause to let them carry out the actions you specified. controlling just my main character felt a little lack luster and too simple. controlling everyone via tactical mode was fun but felt bogged down by the massive health bars of the enemies. Although, I am glad they fixed the big issue with da2's combat which was the MASSIVE amount of enemy waves spawning from thin air, and repelling out of the sky on top of your party's backline. Next is the general gameplay loop. This is what made me stop playing altogether. The game has a large open world area, which is unfortunately filled with bloat. The bloat consists of extremely bland fetch quests and closing rifts (the rifts spawn two enemy waves of spirits). By doing these mind numbingly tedious tasks, you gain points called "power". The ONLY way to unlock the main quests are to gain an arbitrary number of power which you spend to unlock the quest. the power is used up every time you unlock something with it so you have to go grind more horrid fetch quests and rifts after every story mission. Other than that there is a "war table" which lets you send men to go do a mission. The mission takes an arbitrary number of real life minutes for your soldiers to complete, which means you get to either sit and do absolutely nothing or go grind more fetch quests and rifts. Finally we have the story. I'll go over the prologue, so if you are worried about spoilers, maybe skip this. The game starts when you come out of a rift that destroyed the conclave. It seems like the conclave was the headquarters of the chantry, which is run by Justinia the fifth. Justinia is pretty much the most important person on the continent and holds the most political power. when the conclave was destroyed, Justinia was caught in the disaster and seems to have died. You have no idea whats going on when you come out of the rift and pass out for some reason. Upon waking up you are imprisoned because everyone thinks you are the one responsible for making the rift and killing justinia and the conclave. For some reason you have a green glowing mark on your hand which people think is related to the rift, so they send you to close a smaller rift created by the large one. Because it worked, they send you to go close the giant rift which has spirits and demons coming out of it. After killing a few demons and spirits you are only able to seal the rift instead of getting rid of it altogether, which makes you pass out again. When you wake up, all of the sudden everybody who wanted you dead and think you are responsible for making the rift and killing a ton of people are calling you the herald of andraste (basically the second coming of christ). They all revere you and make you the head of the Inquisition, which is apparently a fairly powerful organization that is supposed to get rid of the rift. Thats about where the prologue ends. I dont know about you, but this all just feels like quick way to make the player feel special, but all it does it feel awkward and forced. It makes it really hard to get immersed in your character. The entire time I was playing I just kept feeling like everthing I was doing felt off, which I think is just the combination of the forced "I'm special" prologue and the bad mmo like gameplay loop.

The story and characters are amazing but I didn't enjoy the combat and side-quests which felt like a waste of time for my character who was trying to save the world. Combat felt like the same problem that oblivion had which was my attacks felt like they had no impact and I was just constantly swinging with a butter knife and every fight I was just using every single skill in a row (or in specific combo order) every time with no variation or movement because it would be sub-optimal to move. You might get more out of it if you order every character but I admit I don't have as much patience as most for that sort of thing so if you are like me you might have trouble with the combat portions. The conversational and lore bits are great though and the characters they put in your path are complex and interesting and have bearing on the world and the story.

Played at least a dozen times. One of my go too games. The story-line, companions, and romances are some of the best I've experienced as a gamer. Def recommend.

I remember when I got this game and then I found it really boring. Then I never played it again but now in 2025. I decided you know what I’ll give it a go and finish the whole story and loved it. Blackwall still Bea. Other than that I didn’t really feel for some of the other characters. I like the character customisation I wish they just had a bit more options to pick and they talk way too much, but on the other side, I did enjoy just walking around finding random stuff ✔ Graphics (as shown) ✔ Story and character development ✔ Replay Value ✔ Background music

After some time it just becomes a slog to play. Combat is a big part of the game but just boring and repeatative. Time played feels wasted, because its not really fun.

The game itself is pretty good. The issue is, it needs to be launched through EA Launcher, and I cannot describe how dogshit that app is. Throughout my single playthrough of the game, between the app issues, sometimes straight up refusing to launch, and absurd start up times (of the EA app itself) I lost good 5 hours of my life (and that is probably an understatement). The satisfaction from defeating the last boss is nowhere near the satisfaction pressing uninstall on the EA app brought me.

I first played the game on release (on Origin back then, hence my smaller play time on Steam). Decided to replay all the games after playing Veilguard, and I dreaded coming back to Inquisition. I didn't like the game much back in 2014. The plot was meh, companions mostly boring and cringe (apart from Blackwall who is top tier), open world was big, boring and padded with abysmal side quests. And yet, in 2025, I fully completed the game with all achievements and did not want it to end. I wanted more. Everything we've gotten since has made the game age better than I expected. The open world was big in 2014, but feels small and tightly packed in 2025. The side quests are abysmal and boring, true, but there actually aren't as many of them as I remembered and you can mostly finish them along the way without going too far out of your way. The companions are actually fantastic compared to 2025 character standards. They each have their own personalities, goals, agendas, beliefs. They argue amongst each other, they disagree, hell, they might even leave you. Same with other people around you, people doubt you, they disagree with you, and you have the freedom to choose how you respond to it. Your big choices might not impact too much of the plot, but when they do, they really do, and more imporantly, do give you room to RP your Inquisition and choose the world you leave behind you. The crafting system, simple as it is, offers great deal in customising your setup, and with the right skill combinations you can get some pretty satisfying moments of your build coming together and dealing big damage and melting opponents, including dragons, without much grinding. The main story, while still underwhelming, at least moves quickly, without much padding or summaries or exposition dumps, just one plot point to the next. The game is still far from perfect, and can't even being to hold a candle to Origins. The war table in particular still feels like a mobile mechanic out of place, especially with missions taking up from 24-96 real time hours. Sure, you can mostly ignore it, but some of the best crafting schematics, as well as bonus skill points, are tied to it. The majority of the loot you find is absolutely useless as any items outside of some high level uniques and stuff you craft yourself are complete junk. The build variety, especially for mages, is minimal, with most of your characters constantly spamming the same 3-4 spells that are objectively better than everything else in their small skill trees. And yet, with all its glaring faults, it still feels cosy and nostalgic. A reminder of simpler gaming times. Of older Bioware when a new title from them meant hype. Of the potential this franchise could have had, had it not been mismanaged to hell and back with everything after Origins, had Veilguard not been Veilguard and had been Dreadwolf as originally intended. Still, for something I dreaded coming back to, I couldn't be more happier that I replayed it now.
