This was... not good. I liked it anyway, though. I knew what I was getting into when I saw it is made by a single Russian guy, and I was overall charmed by the first-game attempt at recreating Resident Evil. I'm just gonna give a list of pros and cons, and this is not a recommendation for anyone who isn't interested in either the technical aspects or the jankiness. Pros: 1. The driving is absolutely hilarious. 2. The driving has a turbo button for no reason. 3. Enemies include zombies, werewolves, and Audrey II-esque plants. 4. Shotgun feels good. 5. Charming Resident Evil vibes, but slightly more Noire in nature. Yeah, like a B-Movie Noire Film or something like that. 6. The werewolves are what happens when the virus infects dogs. The dogs become big classic werewolves. We turn into zombies, but they get super-strength and become a biped? I love it, it's so weird. 7. My edible kicked in towards the end of the game and it really made me enjoy the B-game qualities. 8. It's pretty short at under 3 hours, so it wasn't too high a mountain. Cons: 1. The aesthetic is ambitious, but does not stick the landing. 2. The lighting contrast is incredibly aggressive and it's hard to look at for more than an hour. 3. Runs like absolute ASS. 4. The game crashes any time you re-load after dying. Reopening the game allows it to work, so not game-breaking. 5. Bosses are incredibly spongy with high damage, leading to time-consuming slogs that can end at any time via death. 6. #5 is exacerbated by the game having very little total ammo and some guns that can only be obtained by code-safes for which the codes are very difficult to find. It's easy to imagine getting completely stuck due to literally not having enough ammo to kill a boss. 7. The knife they give you sucks and takes 10+ hits to kill the weakest enemies on EASY difficulty. 8. Their attempt at tank controls w/ fixed camera angles is admirable, but they did not quite do it right. Rotating just requires turning the stick, but it just feels confusing when the camera changes angles. I can forgive this, because the third-person camera option works quite well. 9. Incredibly limited inventory leading to a bunch of walking to containers and juggling random items and keys. 10. AWFUL AUDIO BALANCING. I Feel Both Ways: 1. The objectively awful voice acting was a little fun. 2. Any non-protag characters have full Russian accents, despite being set in the States. 3. The driving resembles one of those hobbyist sims like My Summer Car or something. It has to change gears, and your headlights and ignition have their own controls. 4. Odd thing I noticed: The game renders the eyeballs but not the teeth. 5. Charmingly poor English in the menus. Every screen includes both QUIT and EXIT as separate options, and it took five times for me to lock-in which instantly closes the game instead of backs out of the menu. 6. I don't know how to feel about his take on a Resident Evil-style virus. It was the result of an attempt to cure Alzheimer's? It feels kinda weird to me. Maybe just ick, I dunno.
