The story of the game is the continuation of the anime. Since the key items in the game are from the anime, and the game pretty much assumes that you already know Null and Peta, it is highly recommended that you watch the anime before playing the game. Just like the anime, the game is mostly lighthearted in tone with some absurd and unexpectedly heartwarming or tear-jerking moments. I think that the story could have been made better by explaining
who Kaki (the beach girl in the episode 6) was or what had happened to Null and Peta's parents who are mysteriously absent both in the game and the anime
, which would certainly have enhanced the emotional side of the story, though I am content to see the origin of the bugs explained and learn more about Null and Peta sisters. The gameplay is nothing special but not too bad. The game played on normal difficulty is fairly easy, and you can cheese any boss (including the final boss) by transforming into Robo Peta, but the game offers challenges if you decide to play it on hard or hell difficulty. The difference between weapons may not be immediately obvious, but it lies in the range and the time it takes to use them during which you are vulnerable to enemy attacks, which might be a source of annoyance rather than an element of gameplay to some people. Although many of the game mechanics are clumsily implemented (which I will not go over in detail as many other reviews have covered), it is at least good that the developers showed some improvements by adding stages that take more advantage of the equipment mechanic and the unique characteristics of weapons by introducing invisible enemies or breakable rocks in the recent update. I hope that such improvement continues and when they make this kind of game again, it is something that can be enjoyed for its gameplay alone. The cutscenes are fun and the art is gorgeous, as one would expect from Takeshima Eku. And I like the fact that these cutscenes are fully voiced. That really enhances Null and Peta's charm in those scenes. So, if you were unsatisfied with the lack of moments where Null and Peta (human) were together in the anime, I think you will enjoy these cutscenes with beautiful arts drawn by Takeshima Eku herself and will be pleased to hear Null and Peta's voices from the anime again. Overall, this may not be the best $20 game, but the gameplay is tolerable (to me at least), and the cutscenes are fun, and you will get to see more of Null and Peta, who are themselves quite likeable. So, if you liked the anime, why not give this one a try?

There are options between new game, options, help and quit but i cant seem to press any of them. Im not sure if im not pressing the right buttons? I can scroll through them with the arrow keys on my keyboard but I cant actually select them

First, have you seen Null Peta anime? If not, go watch it now. It's short. Come on, just do it. Go in blind. The game is set after the ending of the anime, so you're gonna spoil yourself a great piece of fiction if you don't watch it first! ....ok, you with me? Watched it already? Good. Now you can play the game. You're gonna enjoy it, because you loved the anime. You're gonna hear that "NURUUU" again from the familiar VA, and look at some nicley drawn arts while upbeat music plays in the background. What else would you want, as a fan? What, gameplay? Come on, it's a fanservice game. What do you expect? It's just a clunky platformer. But it has a soul, ok?

Is this a joke? This has to be the clunkiest most badly made platformer I've ever played. You have to see it to believe it. First, the text: the text font used in English is way too big. It goes out of the text box (meaning it's not really a text box, it's just a background they write text on: big difference) and also often right out of the screen. You can already smell the "quality" before even starting to play. /S So there is some BS story putting your character in a "virtual reality": understand a 2D platformer. Everything feels stiff. I can only imagine someone without any experience of programming adequate controls has made them, and there was no QA team worth a damn to ensure it was decent enough. Also, and I didn't understand at the moment, you get interrupted by various pictures of the two girls. This has to be an high-school project. I went up to the first boss. I'm used to Souls and difficult games and this one is clearly not. But as easy as it may want to be, I'm pretty sure rushing to the boss sprite and hitting attack until it dies should not be a acceptable way to kill a boss. It took about five seconds. That's when I decided I had enough. I was puzzled as how this game had "mostly positive" reviews. I'd have expected it to be overwhelmingly negative. So I've looked a bit and it turns out "Null & Peta" are anime characters. (It was news to me too. It has a pretty low score on "myanimelist": around 6.4 when anything below 8 is usually to be safely ignored.) I'm assuming the whole point of this game is to be an excuse to get pictures of these two in various settings. This explain the trivial difficulty and abysmal quality and gameplay. I got it for cheap in a bundle otherwise I'd immediately ask for a refund.

Characters and nerdy world seems nice, but action part is over 'retro' one. Still in development, need more improvement. [2D ACT]「ぬるぺた」のアクション。現状少しアレな出来。

This game is TORTURE. The movement and clunky design, not to mention the basic AF gameplay, makes this game almost unplayable.

Possible new record for how fast I've gotten a game refunded. I got it for half off, $20 for this game is straight up criminal. It shouldn't be tagged as a metroidvania, it's got separate levels. Game play is super boring. Why would a gatling gun have the same range as a giant wrench? Not good, not worth it, please save yourself from buying this game.
PROS

has Steam Achievement
great Soundtracks
nice Characters design
voice acting with full of cheer and spirit
the gameplay quite simple

CONS

No Steam Cloud, your saved progress will never store to Cloud. (I REALLY HATE THIS SENSATION)
there was some lacking in few keys.

ADDITIONAL NOTE
game with a decent crazy comedy Anime story and surprisingly good animation, art, and voic eacting. for storyline really different from Anime version which Peta, Null's older Sister got an accident where she jarred in the crash with Truck. Null decide to revive her older Sister and final result is not as expected to her mind. you can see the Anime version with buying the DLC here https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/12850/Null__Peta_Season_1/ it's available on Steam Store, just look out to them so you can find out to the Story. the story in this game has aim to destroy the source of the troubles that occurs at that location. they find the source of all troubles, yes it's QUEEN BUG. actually QUEEN BUG has no purpose to start a war, she just wanted to find her true self to be able to interact with humans. for Gameplay is quite good in the meaning of easy for playing. Action-Adventure Side Scroller type of the game makes me freely to movement. many people say that the game is a bit strange because the animation is not interesting, the boss is sucks, and so on. whatever... I myself still not found the secret Stage (Stage 9) until now. if someonw know something please leave the comment.
RECOMMEND ?
YES. because the game has great story and gameplay. I love your previous title TOKYOTOON. Noratoto and Marco & Galaxy Dragon was fun and charming in their own way but that's it they're Visual Novel. That's why I got a bit surprised when TOKYOTOON released an action side scrolling game, to be honest I didn't expect much but still curious to try. Gameplay-wise? plain, bland, boring, repetitive music etc. This looks like a newbie programmer trying to make an action game for the first time, even other indie game developer is better at this. Artwork, character design and CG?, damn what a waste of resource, that's the only thing good at this game I guess, if this is Visual Novel game maybe I'll reconsider writing a bad review. It's cute though Maybe I'll just watch the Anime.
