If you bought this coming from Painscreek Killings (which I loved) and wanted a similar experience, then stay away. Nothing to do with the first game they did. Disappointed...

Scene Investigators is not your average crime scene simulator. This game is hard, and rightfully so! It was made for true detective enthusiasts who are willing to take their time and consider all angles before drawing a conclusion. I spent anywhere from 3-6 hours on each scenario and I'm so glad I did- there were many eleventh hour revelations that led me to the truth, which I wouldn't have noticed had I locked in my answer sooner.
I've seen criticism regarding the logical leaps in these cases, and here's what I have to say: while there are a few times you have to suspend your disbelief, there is no scenario that I would consider impossible to solve on an observant detective's first try, albeit some details do require educated guesswork. This is explicitly the intent of the creators. It's paramount to understand that the point of this game isn't to gather clues until you've formed an ironclad case... it's to test your deductive reasoning skills based on very limited information. That means in some cases you may have to stake your theory on physical evidence, despite lacking a clear motive; in others, you may need to determine the perpetrator based on little more than circumstance or opportunity. After a thorough examination of most scenes, you will feel confident on some things, but shaky on others. I personally love this 'missing information' approach- it truly stretched my brain, sometimes making me question if I was even on the right path at all. If that doesn't sound fun to you, then it most likely wasn't made for you.
My only request now would be some DLC cases! My best friend and I LOVED solving the last two together, and ever since then we've been chomping at the bit for more.
TL;DR Scene Investigators is right up there with Painscreek Killings as one of my all-time favorite mystery/detective/crime solving experiences, so I can't wait to see what these developers come out with next.

I love how relaxing this game is and the fact that it doesn't hold your hand. Immersive and interesting detective game.
