Iridion 3D is one of the best 3D shooting games on GBA platform.
Steam version adds a new in-game menu. Player can save and load game data at any time.

I really liked the game, as this is a digital version of the GameBoy Advance title, and with the save states I can finally win against Mainframe in Hard difficulty (mwahahaha!)

Pros:
- Solid port of a nostalgic game boy advance game.
- Still a fun bullet-hell-ish shooter.
- Soundtrack is great.
- Visuals are very fun.
- Boss design is great.
- Ability to save anywhere is a great quality of life feature.
Cons:
- Not many extras or options included with the port. No filters, shaders, or border customization.
- Game is 1-2 hours long.
Highly recommend if you can get this one and the second game on a good sale.

Barebones port of a Game Boy Advance launch shmup title with a unique 3D perspective.
It has an especially amazing soundtrack and visuals for a GBA game, and although it is quite short and not that hard in the game department, it still offers memorable levels and bosses (especially the last one).

A Decent enough port of a GBA Cult Classic. I would recommend a controller with a good D-pad, and honestly would recommend waiting for a sale. This is a pretty good game, but doesn't have very many levels or replay value.
6/10, the best part about this game is the soundtrack

Yeah, Iridion 3D was not a very fun game even back when it was originally released.
Most 3d space rail shooting games have a slight problem with the difficulty in judging distances when there aren't enough obvious points of reference in the game-world. This can make basic things such as dodging feel rather imprecise. However, most games in this genre also include additional mechanics that re-introduce a level of finesse to the experience. Not so in the case of Iridion 3D: The only mechanics are shooting directly forward and avoiding enemies and their projectiles, and the ambiguous 3d hitboxes run rampant through the entire game.
At least the game still looks nice, even when divorced from the context of the primitive handheld hardware that it was originally designed for.

as an original GBA owner of this game, its nice to see this game preserved in some capacity for the modern day .
i will mention a few reviews here bring up the emulator chugging hard when too much is happening , but this is mostly playable; and gives newer gens an idea of what we grew up with . its not perfect but i want more people to try this and hopefully push fore a modern remake of this game.
Majesco , please remake this game! it would be so cool for it to be truly 3D, and not sprite 3D

I honestly never expected to see this game on steam. Iridion 3D is one of my favorite games of all time. The game is a launch title for the Game Boy Advance, which is something to keep in mind about this game. The game uses a pseudo 3D effect in order to create a unique Shmup game that i have never seen an attempt to replicate the style of. While the pseudo 3D style can be very akward at first, if you are able to adapt, the game is a very fun, while short game. While some may feel the fact the game is short is a flaw, i find it adds to the ease of picking up the game for a quick playthrough. As a launch title for the GBA, the game has some audio oddities, along with issues due to developers still learning the limitations of the platform. all in all, if you can get past the flaws and get used to the pseudo 3D style, it is a very fun game.

My first review, had to hit this, because I love this game despite its brevity and flaws.
Pros:

Neat graphics for their time and place

Great soundtrack

Simple gameplay

Seven pretty cool levels

Three savestates alongside the old passwords
Cons:

Short and simplistic

Iffy hitboxes at times

Nothing new to replay for

Sharp difficulty increase on later levels

Giant pixels look like a field of static

Slowdown on levels 3 and 4
To be fair, I can't test that slowdown against the original, as I no longer own a Gameboy Advance, but yeah. On a Ryzen 5 2600, with 16GB RAM and an 8GB RX 580, there is slowdown on an emulated GBA game.
VERDICT: Wait for sale if you're a fan of shmups/retro. Everyone else probably need not apply. WE NEED A NEUTRAL VOTE, VALVE!

The most random ass port to Steam I've ever seen. Super nostalgic, but it was never a great game to begin with. Port is super duper barebones. No options or filters or resolution options. Just straight up GBA port stretched out to whatever your current resolution is.
Not bad buying both 1 and 2 on sale though for some nostalgia kicks.
