A fun little game with a lot of problems that can be frustrating but don't take away from the simple comic-book fun

Lots of fun ideas packed into a Mignola-esque world of space scum and mercenaries. I did feel like Lobo. No. It felt even better, because of the awesome moustache on the protagonist!

Chains of Fury is nice indie title that showcases the passion and dedication of its developers. The game’s gunplay is satisfying with a wide variety of mechanics that keep things fresh and exciting. What truly stands out is its unique comic book-inspired art style, which gives the game a distinct and visually striking aesthetic. The attention to detail and the amount of work put into every aspect of the game are clearly visible, making Chains of Fury a must-try for fans of old school shooters.

I don't know what everyone is bitching about. I bought it the day it came out and I didn't have any bugs. Its a fun game. It didn't blow my tits off, but I'm liking it.

Have been looking forward to this game for a long time! So far it looks pretty cool but please add in controller support. For those wondering it does launch and play fine on Bazzite (and presumably ntive Steam OS. Was able to play through some of the first level with a controller layout but will probably return it until its got some real controller support built in. Awesome art style and music! If you already use a keyboard/mouse you should be more than fine.

The art looks great but the game clearly isn't ready as of now. It feels like an early access. Hitboxes are wonky, invisible corners blocking your shots make it a frustrating game to play.

Now this is a disappointment. Great art style. Great feeling, punchy gunplay. But RIDDLED with bugs. I had to restart the second level several times because I lost the ability to interact with objects. I didn't want to try a third time, because I'd rather just refund it at this point.

Great aesthetic, and the vocal quips are top notch. I also enjoy the visual references to classic gaming (Duke, Sonic, and more!). It has an addictive quality that makes for willing map replays. But... It's buggy. Enemies can shoot through walls. Enemy AI is dumb as stone. Clunky control makes for artificial difficulty. Keybinds have to be consistently rebound. Hand-to-hand combat seems sluggish. I bought it on sale, and I'm hoping that some of this nonsense can be patched out. If I could refund this purchase, I would. I think I hate this game. Revision (6 additional hours of play): Okay, so I wasn't playing it right. I was committed to working my way through what's here, and I feel a little bit differently. It's more fun than I had initially indicated, and I have to admit that I've enjoyed returning to the game. But... The more you play, the more bugs you will find. There are holes in the floors of some of these maps (the first and the final being the most egregious), and the penultimate map doesn't even seem finished. In my experience, some weapons fail to fire in rage mode (shotgun, laser ray). I still find the gameplay sluggish at times, but I also recognize that I was originally playing like a bonehead... I still wouldn't recommend, but I would no longer say I hate it. With some polish, I this could be so much better.

This game is bad. I could do with uninspired level design, boring enemies and overall mediocrity of the thing. But this game also has several technical issues which make it a below average experience among the plethora of boomer shooters on Steam. Constant falling through the walls out of the game map and horribly slow frame rate in big fights (which you are supposed to do as fast as you can in order to get fury and xp) make playing unpleasant. Also it is very short and when playing on normal (which is the harder of two difficulty settings) you will not get achievements for beating the levels and bosses on easy. There are many better boomer shooters on Steam. I recommend Prodeus, Project Warlock, or Forgive Me, Father.

I had fun with the game, but in its current state I can not recommend. It has some good ideas, but doesn't quite execute on them. Pros: Nice nods to shooters like Doom. The comic book art style looks great. The music sets the pace in the levels, especially when you are in fury mode. Cons: Full of bugs, dropped out of the map a few times. Fell into a poison pool, could not get out and had to reload save. There are no auto save points, you have to manually save the entire time. Shotgun would randomly not shoot, this was a frequent problem. I had to change guns back and forth to get it to shoot again. Machine gun would not register the ammo I was picking up. So I could not use it unless I was going into fury mode. The controls felt floaty, this wasn't a problem until the platforming parts. Later levels became laggy, when headshotting an enemy the game would temporarily freeze. Bosses were way too easy, even on the hardest difficulty "normal mode." One boss just sat there and let me shoot, the others were melted when I went into fury mode. Weapons didn't matter, unlocking the later ones meant nothing. Could use the shotgun and machine gun the whole time. You can only equip two weapons at a time, this was disappointing considering how Doom let you have them all on you at once.
