This game is... mixed, honestly. I definitely wouldn't call it bad, and I do not regret playing it in the slightest, but... ...Long story short, this game needed a few more weeks of development. Main Gameplay: Pretty fun and enjoyable overall. Short summary, the game consists of 10 bullet-hell bosses. You have a roll with invincibility frames, a basic swing, a magic shot, and a one time special that heals you to full. After getting used to the mechanics, it's just a matter of learning each boss attack pattern. Out of all the bosses, 1/10 was WAY too easy (Evelyn), and 3/10 were pretty big difficulty spikes. (Neptune, Steelwind, and the final boss). The other 6 were, honestly, really well balanced. The only time I ever felt frustrated was when the game bugged out, which brings me to... Bugs: For the most part, the bugs only have to due with the music and the UI. These usually had no affect on the gameplay, but one fight DESPERATELY needs fixing. I'll make this brief: There is a glitch in the final boss where, for no reason at all, they'll randomly become invincible for the rest of the fight, forcing you to restart. It seems completely random, but it won't stop you from beating the game. (Tip: it seems to do with clicking too fast, but that's just a theory. A GAME TH-). The Performance: I'm running on a relatively new gaming laptop which can run most games with little to no issue. Despite this, my laptop was screaming in pain 90% of the time, and whenever it was not plugged with a charger, the game had about as much input lag as a RC Mars rover. But as long as it was plugged in, there was nothing that affected gameplay. Graphics and such: Everything was clear. Maintained a constant high resolution and framerate with no problem. Although, it is painfully clear that the backgrounds were stock. Did not affect enjoyment of the game, though. Music: Mostly nothing to write home about, but not distracting (minus the final boss theme) and not at all bad. Story: Honestly, there's so much missed potential, it is sad. there's a total of 11 characters, each with unique personalities and backstories... that are just info dumped onto you right before you fight them... ...and almost never brought up again after you beat them. Only 2 of the characters received any sort of actual characterization, and one of them is introduced 90% of the way through the game. ...speaking of the end of the game, WOW it is disappointing. I won't spoil anything, even though you're not missing much. I'll just say that it felt like the writer(s) threw the first "emotional" ending they could think of at their computer and called it a day. It's not even a minute long. I wouldn't be disappointed, if this weren't the same studio that brought us Attorney of the Arcane (which you should totally play). Although, I saw on their website that they're potentially working on a sort-of follow up game? Who knows, maybe this was just a test. In short: Not winning any awards anytime soon, and probably ending up as just another memory in my list of played games, but come on, it's 5 bucks and only a few hours long. It's not gonna bite ya.
