Product is cool, but take care about the DLCs. Most of them are crap, and you will find beter on the 'net. RPG Maker is a 2D game construction tool. You have tiled maps, animated characters, event that you can easily script (even if you know nothing about scripting) and a battle system that you can configure the way you want. You can also extend all those functionality up to almost anything, depending your skills and your efforts. It's one of the leaders on the market, so you will easily find vidéos and tools to help you to understand and develop your skills and your toolbox. All done, it's a realy good option for those who want to try theirself at making a small game. But there are a few caveats. - Like at warn above, DLCs sold here are mainly craps. - Deploiement on mobiles is all but easy. Still it's possible. - Perfs run quickly low, if you don't housekeep seriously your project. - The documentation cover only the basics, and you have to crawl the web as soon as you use more advanced features. I hope this help, NoirDelire

Console tends to popup a lot in this version and it's very annoying when doing PLAY TESTS. The RPG Maker Community is not very helpful when it comes to this error. This problem has happened a lot with ANY tile set I've purchased here directly on steam. By all means someone knows how to fix this, RM forums was this time helpful about it, but still in comparsion to previous RM's this one tends to give issues at times and some changes that didn't need to happen. It's hard choice between this and MV because MV has a lot more plugins and the like.

I got this because I am creating a video game for my daughter and this allows me to fulfill that dream. This all started because I made a small piece of music while my wife was pregnant that expressed how I felt about become a father. One song quickly became two and I found myself drafting a story to go along with the music that I was creating. I continued to add to it with the hopes of one day hiring something to actually build the game, and that's when I found this. With this game I am able to create a playground for my daughter to live in and for that alone I must give this a 10/10.

Plugin additions are seamless, javascript is used so making modifications to the engine is super easy. Great documentation as well. Highly recommend to give a massive head start on an RPG

RPG Maker Engine is not ideal for making games. It is very limited without plugins and the use of script calls. However, you will go from 0 - 60 with your game instantly because of all the assets that come with the engine. The immediate dopamine hit of getting to create your world, characters, and interactables may just push you down the game dev rabbit hole to bigger and better engines. This is a great place to start for learning game design, what works and doesn't work and even some basic logic like "if else" statements without getting bogged down in asset creation and coding before reaching a playable point. Only once you taste the sweat nectar of a playable game will you be willing to put in the hard work to make something truly unique. At least, this was how it was for me. I took a month making an action RPG with this that my family played and enjoyed. It was a blast, but I quickly hit the wall of RPG maker's limitations. Some battle with the engine for years, really pushing it to its limits and creating work arounds, but this was enough for me to know the hardwork of learning a more open ended engine was worth it. I still recommend RPG maker as I never would of discovered the joy of game development without it and would have quit long before discovering the joy of having others play and enjoy something you created. For its low point of entry to the game dev world, it is worth it to buy and play around with to discover if this is something you truly want to do.

I wouldn't spend your money, for the whole program is busted beyond belief. My first and foremost reaction is an absolute "WTF?" when i spent literal hours making a map, only to load it and find out the whole thing is unusable because your sprite is literally locked in place no matter what layer you alter to fix it. All buttons ticked to allow players to pass through the graphics as a layer don't seem to make a difference when the whole map is broken upon loading. My second biggest complaint is how there's not at all a friendly, stream lined, updated user interface. There's honestly discombobulated menus that should be organized better, in easier places to find, the same with files. My third final biggest complaint is the character generator. I got tons of parts for it, yet, it doesn't seem to like anything you add to it, that doesn't come preloaded in the maker. It doesn't seem to matter how much you edit the files to even attempt to fix it, doesn't make a single difference.

Alot more powerful compared to RPG MAKER MV. I love the new features and QOL changes such as being able to see a visualization of where your placing images and seeing a preview of the moveroute. If your new to game development and want to make games this is for you, even if your experienced it's also for you as you can make some pretty neat games. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to make games and doesn't want to/or have the time to learn to code. Perfect to tell your stories. You don't have to make RPG games, I've seen platformers, action games, Survival games, puzzle games, visual novels, adventure games, horror games and many more! If your wondering if you should get this or MV get this one! BEWARE though you will need plugins to do outside of the box stuff. And there are people who are predators when it comes to plugin pricing they charge and arm and leg for plugins (Sometime the plugins cost more than the engine which is very predatory! Do not support those plugins as there are free alternatives out there!)

Most of the DLC packs you see are made by other third party artists, which is a good thing for the buyer anyways since you can use most of it with other game engines, excluding assets made by rpg maker team / kadokawa etc of course. This engine may not be a fully fledged game engine, missing things like a proper UI editor is a failing to meet the current standard for game building engines, and it has its limitations. I do however enjoy using this engine and havnt fully escaped the rpg maker engines, even after trying out multiple free game building/creation softwares. Its really very easy to plug whatever you want in and just get making, with little to no coding required unless your going for something niche or commercialized. Most people will never need to code a thing since many different options exist for pre-created plug-ins. I will also add that I took more enjoyment out of MZ compared to older iterations.
