So first off. To the developers really thanks for making this game didn't expect at all the Great jump of quality respect the previous titles but it show all the love and care you have put into it. Really Well Done.
I Completed the game now and trying to give a "little" review without spoilering anything and in the best english I can. I put this game on the level of Shady Brooks (from whom some characters reappears one of them I wasn't really expecting and I hope he will get what he deserve at some point in the future). For the players who wants to approach this Don't let the cute fantasy aspect make you think this is a lighthearted story. Is really a well written psycological horror/drama with fantasy aspects in it. So expect to be NOT scared in "the monster is chasing me, I have to fight" kinda setting but to be unsettled by a plot that reveals himself while you play. In the Complex I loved the story (A little over the top in the end. But it get the message through and end up ok) the main protagonist is expectionally great and Voice actress did a really but REALLY good job.
The story is about a little Girl Ophelia who after an accident end up in coma as the game trailers show the cause of this accident isn't totally clear and the parents seems to not be totally honest on what really happened but luckily there is a great character on the job the help discover the truth: Brianna the protagonist from Film Maker she is back as the second protagonist of this story. it shines a little less because obviously she's a "support" to Ophelia story but I'm glad is back as she is written exactly as I remember her (just didn't get much the animosity she have with her boss Dr. Simms as in the story he's aside ambition and cold demeanor a really helpfull character and she maybe do him more wrongs than he deserve). The Mistery anyway is subtle and once a determinated scene occour everything begin to be clear (and oh boy I had shivers as it gives the intro take a total different meaning). While Brianna as a nurse will question the parents and monitor the patients of the Hospital. Ophelia guided by the player will live her fantasy dream (have breaks from it in "memories" chapters) and at a certain point the player will see that the Fantasy world and The creatures in it are a sugar coated version of some realities she live in.
The Immersion in the game is deep at least for me it was. The Fantasy World is well written and follow the pattern of the Fantasy Book the Father read to Ophelia before she ended up in coma so the player will have at least at the beginning a sense of what will happen (little spoiler if you ever read a old Grimm Fairy Tale you know not always end up well). I loved what Developer did with the starting Screen (is a major impact from previous titles, and honestly wolf on the side is cool) .Liked the transitions from a place to another as they are shown with a little cutscene with the name of the place. Really liked the Journal in this game as all the lines in it are voiced by the voice actress of Ophelia and Brianna and show the depths of their emotion and how the events in the story (either in the fantasy World or the real World) impact them. Also the depth of informations from other games and the details hidden in some locations like in Ophelia House or the Hospital are a nice touch from the developer to the fans and help put the pieces of informations together. The map returned and I'm glad of it as there is a few difficulties on the screen to see where to go and the ever present and affable map show how many direction you have. The best Gameplay of the Game for me is the Torches, love how they looked when used in dark places. And when Brianna did her "Take the patient pressure". The Fight is ok (Lower the expectations readers: It happen only one time and against the big Boss, otherwise any confrontation is resolved by a puzzle as this is by nature an Adventure game) and is A variation of When Brianna killed the Demon Not Epic but it works well. The puzzle aspect of the game for me happened only 2 times: - in the caves of the Eagles (Seriously There is a zealoth Eagle that is also the only pain-in-the.. quest giver in the game that I gladly thinked at a certain scene "good karma"). - And in The Catacombs of the Damned. Not much for the levers: didn't need to see what was inside the chest but for OPEN that chest. OH boy. only object that wasn't easy to spot in the entire game [to you all: FOR THE RIGHT BONE TO USE ON THE HOLE SEARCH THE COFFIN NEAR THE MISSING LEVER].
Only weaks points for me were:
- Graphic as is not that great. The Scenery is better but the characters are a little stiff. But aside this it deliver the sense of the story very well.
- Party System. Personally I love the Teddy Bear and the Innocence girl really as characters in the story and what they means for the protagonist I do. But as companions they aren't really present "in-party" there is not a puzzle where you need one or the other to go further. (I get is the whole point ;-). I feel the line at the end by the Godess is sugar coated to say what I think she said to Ophelia.
The Only Times I had encountered 3 bugs are these:
- When In the Eagles caves the stone that I'm supposed to carve already show to have COEUS written on it.
- After the worm scene if the player go back and try to click on the picture of the worm on the wall instead of a description
it appear a dialogue box that block you on the spot and can't do anything anymore.
- The Cinematic scene that show Ophelia reach the Summit of the Wolf didn't appear when she drink the potion.
And 1 or maybe 2 inconsistencies in the story
- Like when Ophelia had to turns into a Eagle to enter a specific place and end up the Warlock spell (but the Moon storywise should have made her into dust as soon as transformed as the eagles suffer this specific curse). Maybe a line or two by the Warlock to specify the place in question thanks to the barrier it should protect the eagles from harm or something along this lines.
- Literally at the end I expected the foreshadow mention of the wolf (how it contrast with the pixie as his natural predator and may not be as Ophelia think a "good" entity) by the Eagle in the caverns to have more meaning behind it than what is shown to be. Not really an inconsistency peraphs but a little let down by it.
ALL SAID I thank you all for take your time and read this review and wait with entusiasm
for the next chapter in the story: Shadow Island.
Also Remember Guys as they said don't be a DOUG.
...or even worse a warlock.
Play the game and You will understand ;-)

As usual, Christopher has done a fantastic job! The backing story was dark, but compelling. The characters were well voiced. You definitely develop a bond for Ophelia, Roluk and Ilea. I suppose my only complaint is that there was not a little bit more to the backing story as well as the journey to he Summit Of The Wolf after leaving Scarwood Keep. Other than that, kudos to Christopher for creating another great game! I cannot wait to play the next one!

Gorgeous, heart-wrenching and totally engrossing dark fantasy from the brilliant minds of Christopher and Elle Brendel! The latest in the interconnected Storycentric games universe follows 12 year old Ophelia, who finds herself in a fantastical world that is as terrifying as it is wondrous. Guided by a white wolf and a mysterious goddess, she embarks on a quest for a pool of wisdom, learning friendship, courage and determination along the way, but is she ready to face the true quest? This game features great puzzle-solving, haunting music, breathtaking artwork and a mind-bending story that is both tragic and spiritually uplifting. Important even. VERY dark. Occasionally frustrating. But highly recommended for everyone but especially if you've gone through bad things in life. I feel like this game could actually help in some ways. or if you like anything fantasy related you will love this! Follow the white wolf to the purchase button!

I suppose this one is kind of one step forward two steps back from the previous entry in the series, Stonewall Penitentiary. One of the things that edged that game up into the recommend category for me was that I thought the villain's backstory was a bit interesting. I'll try to discuss it without spoilers here (i'll even not use pronouns since the suspects include men and women in that game), the villain had been responsible for someone's death, but had been forgiven for it and since that time the villain had been consumed by an overwhelming guilt over event. To an extent, the villain perhaps might have thought that the punishment they were inflicting on the other characters was to their benefit. So, that they could be punished for their crimes. (Maybe. There were some lines found in the villain's dialogue that suggested that was maybe that was just a justification for the villain's actions and that really the villain just wanted to torture people. But maybe both things can be true. The villain is insane and has disordered thinking. That is all part of what make the villain interesting.)
In Summit of the Wolf, we're back to villains like in this writer's games before Stonewall Penitentiary, where they are simply evil. No attempt has been made to get into their heads whatsoever. And presumably these people are sane. At the very least, the father is a "Professor of Psychology at an Elementary School" (whatever that could possibly mean. Those must be some pretty advanced kids.) So, he must be fairly intelligent and be aware of his actions. Surely, he would have some justifications for himself to excuse his appetites. The mother we learn even less about.
And then there is the ways this story is a sequel to The Filmmaker and Shady Brook. The other games had only slight connections to each other that felt more like product placement than anything that affected the plot. In this one, you actually control the character from the Filmmaker and she spends a portion of this story investigating the characters from Shady Brook. I think it's a good idea (the one step forward). But on the one hand, there's no particular reason this nurse should be the character from the Filmmaker because her experiences in that story don't seem to influence her actions in this one whatsoever, and the stuff to do with Shady Brook has the unfortunate effect of diluting the well-crafted ending to that game.
It now feels like the main character sacrificed himself just so that the girl could just die later by the same hands. Pretty bleak moral there.
But it seems that maybe it's all to set up a later game. And perhaps my mind might change depending on what happens there. Still, kind of bleak nonetheless.
I talked about some things I didn't like but there are thing the writer's gotten a lot better at. The characters except for the villains feel the most fleshed out. Whether they are in the fantasy world or the hospital, they are intriguing, much like in Stonewall. The art has improved a lot. Maybe that's a two edged sword, because it has gotten good enough now that we might be tempted to compare it to games with better art still, whereas before we were likely to just overlook it. But I like that the hospital and the fantasy world are in different styles, and I like the few animated scenes like the flyovers of the new areas when you reach them and for scenes that require a bit more action than slideshows allow.
Finally, I like the way the fantasy story was constructed. Even though it didn't feel like a real place (as it shouldn't considering it was a dream) I liked that the different chapters felt interconnected by the end. I liked, for instance, discovering what had become of the scepter after the story had stopped caring about it. It was very nicely put together.
But yeah, I wouldn't really recommend it as a whole. Despite it's mature content, it doesn't really have a point of view on all that that I could discern beyond terrible things happen to innocent people, so I'm not really sure I'd really suggest someone dwell on that by playing the game. I might feel differently based on the sequels though. It looks like maybe there's plans to have two different ones following each main character? I'd be happy to see where it's all going, and then reconsider this. Let's just hope these girls' story don't end like
Kate Ekan's
I've played all of this developer's games, in what is a planned eighteen game series, and enjoyed them all. I've particularly liked Lifestream, The Filmmaker, and the recent Stonewall Penitentiary. I've particularly liked how he weaves his characters in and out of his stories. In fact, two of the reappearing characters in this story were first seen in Shadybrook and The Filmmaker. That's not to say that the stories in each game are incomplete or that the developer leaves you hanging, he doesn't. He just picks up the characters at a different point in their lives. This game is more like Shadybrook, in that it deals with disturbing subject matter.
I won't deny that some parts were unsettling for me, but overall I really enjoyed the game. I especially liked the caves of the giant eagles, which were slightly Mayan in flavor, and in which the puzzles were particularly well integrated. There were humorous passages too, such as a swamp filled with sarcastic talking trees.
Some players might be leery of the game's timed sequences, but they are not hard and they are few.
I should mention that it's not necessary to have played the previous games to have a complete understanding of this one. I'll look forward to the next game in the series, Shadow Island.

WOW. This is an extremely underrated game, at least presently. Everyone should play it - you will be pleasantly surprised. We are faced with some masterful storytelling here at its best, so thank you for that. I'm just glad stories like this one still get told as uncomfortable as they are to witness. I definitely did not expect what I got so a word of caution; this is not a kids game. Also, I wouldn't look at a visual novel tag as this is more of a point and click puzzle adventure. The characters are absolutely beautiful and different and the puzzles were a lot of fun. I'm all about poetic "Labyrinth" like riddles and zero hand holding so if you are too, here is a great game to get. As soon as I'm allowed I will be favoring this one for 2020.

Stonewall Penitentiary was their first game to have more of a 'normal' interface for a P&C game, the others were hybrid games - part visual novel part point n click. Here they have taken it even further and now it really plays like any normal P&C game. Far more gameplay than their others, lots of integrated puzzles even a couple of minigames. All this was a welcome surprise, the one annoyance was their introduction of quick time events. Clicking when a moving slider is in a short window. It's not that they are hard, if you can do any hidden object game puzzles of timing/reaction, or the early walking dead quick time events you will have no problem here. I always thought it was a developers' lazy way to introduce some type of gameplay into their games (telltale) and here it feels out of place. It's not needed as there is so much very good intelligent gameplay and quick time events equate for me with the 'dumbing' down of games. Also there will be some people that just can't do these, that enjoyed this developer's previous games, due to physical limitations with mouse movement etc. So I hope the developer rethinks this aspect of gameplay for their next game and leave it out.
I never do any type of spoilers re story as I like to uncover this important part of a game myself. The following is more of a warning. The game does open with a full warning page of mature content re
child sexual abuse
take heed, this game is not just dark due to the subject matter of the storyline but is also dark for other different reasons. I can mention one - like a lot of their previous games there are
dark supernatural/demon figures
. While this aspect of their previous games I really didn't like, here it actual makes sense. I'm not a fantasy lover (don't have a problem with it, just played so many games with that theme) but following on from the previous sentence it couldn't be told any other way and was perfect.
All I will say re the story is how well done it was, how it was handled (not explicit) and I like when games have an important theme and I hope people
especially those who turn a blind eye will stop and do/say something
will find this game, share it with others to further the conversation in society how best to stop/combat this.
I do wish there were manual saves especially with so many optional achievements, as all this developers' games are auto save only. Also it would have been good to have an optional hotspot detector as a couple of hotspots/interactions were hard to find. But it really is a very good game, from story to gameplay.

Storycentric Worlds is an ongoing series of narrative game/books and point and click/adventure games that takes place in the same fictitious universe
Characters are weaved in and out of the stories. If you have played Shadybrook, it is like that; it deals with disturbing subject matter.
You do not need to have played the other games in the Storycentric World to have a full understanding of what is going on; this is a stand-alone game.
This is (at times) sobering, but a heartfelt amazing story based on true events.
Some parts of this game were disturbing, but it is an enjoyable game. The locations were interesting and different, puzzles were well done and made sense!
There's plenty of humor in the game, at the right time, even though it deals with mature subject matter.
There are four timed events, but they are slow, even I managed them thus far!
As a side note: People will have a better understanding and empathy for what survivors go through after playing this; that is a great thing.
There is a lot of reading and lore here; you will be immersed in this fantasy world very quickly.
Game Mechanics:
The game autosaves, there are three save slots that can be overwritten.
Game options include:
Windowed/Fullscreen
Sound: on/off
Music: on/off
Voices: on/off
You have a diary so you can keep track of things. You can see what your current objective is at any time, and also what percentage of the game you’ve played. There is also a map because this is a large world!
I have ten hours in the game and am not quite done yet.

I've played all of the Unimatrix/Storycentric games and they just keep getting better. Great artwork, music, narrative, and characters you care about. Summit of the Wolf is a multi-faceted story of a child facing and triumphing over abuse. It took me about 8 hours to play through and it was a real pleasure. Puzzles are never hard and the creation of a journal, a map, and a codex (definition of terms) as you play add depth to the experience. The voice acting is well done but I tend to turn voices off and just enjoy the music (which effectively sets the mood for each scene). There are a handful of timed activities (clicking when prompted) to simulate physical activities such as fishing, chopping a tree, wielding a weapon. I am the original novice at hand/eye coordination but these were easy for me so this should not discourage adventure purists.
Those who have played previous games (LifeStream, Shady Brook, The Filmmaker, Stonewall Penitentiary) will recognize the intuitive point/click interface and should see some familiar faces.
The story makes you think, as you play, and freeing Ophelia (in the real and dream world) becomes an emotional quest for the player. I highly recommend this game to those who want to invest in a character and see good win out over evil. Besides being a good adventure game, the messaging at the end is a wake up call. I was shocked to see the statistics on how many children in this country experience sexual abuse and the game emphasizes the toll it takes on victims. This is a startling peek into their world for those of us who have avoided this tragedy.
Not a victim. A survivor
Storycentric Worlds has returned with another great and emotional story. This is the fifth game from the series and based on a true story, which makes it very special. There is a mention of child abuse, sexual and emotional. It is a very sensitive subject and can trigger some people, but trust me, there is nothing graphical about it. The story is well written and nicely told. It starts off with a young girl named Ophelia who fell into a coma due to trauma. Her mind drifts her into a fantasy land where she meets good and bad people. Everything in the fantasy land reflects in her real life. While she was laying on her ICU bed, her parents visited her, claiming she fell off the stairs, however, the nurse, Brianna, a returning character from The Filmmaker game sensed something is off about the parents, she also tends another patient, Kate, another returning character from Shady Brook game.

I enjoyed the gameplay so much, you switch between the real world and the fantasy world Ophelia made in her mind, the puzzles are fun are quite difficult, I wished there was a hinting system, as well a fast travel function of the map as you have to go back and forth in a couple of areas. There is also some pixel-hunting, it didn't bother me but I also would prefer adding hotspots options (As when we press space it highlights the areas which we can interact)

The music is wonderful, just like all the previous games, what I loved the most about Summit of the Wolf is that everything is voiced, every line in the game is voiced by the characters, including the journals, codex, and anything you interact with, the cast did an amazing job.

Pros:
+Interesting dark and creepy story.
+Beautiful music.
+Very well-written story.
+Interesting characters and a couple of returning ones.
+Points system.
+Good challenging and creative puzzles.
+Steam achievements.
Cons:
-Lots of backtracking.
-No hinting system.
-Some pixel hunting.
This game can be played as a standalone, but I highly recommend you to play Shady Brook and Lifestream to relate to the returning characters and understand their stories.
