An average at game ruined by absolutely terrible, unfun balancing. Past the halfway point, the game's attempt at increasing difficulty is to throw multiple elite "miniboss" type enemies at you in each combat encounter, which just makes each fight feel like an absolute slog. You'll constantly be getting hit in the back, by offscreen attacks, trying too kite multiple shielded enemies while being swarmed by trash mobs, mobs spawning projectiles, flying enemies that take precision to unshield (who also are providing shield to other enemies)), dodging damaging waves of attacks, dodging webs that slow you, etc. This results in a gameplay loop that just consist of you spamming dodge in an attempt to reduce the amount of damage you're taking, while trying to counter with attacks of your in seconds of downtime in between. Worst of all, this game has THE MOST bullet spongey enemies I've ever seen in any game on the "Normal" difficulty, with any elite enemies easily eating into a full cycle of your powered attacks and secondary weapons. Now imagine exhausting all your resources on ONE of these enemies while there are 3 more along with projectile slinging trash mobs all spamming the hell out of you, and you'll get a sense of what the gameplay is like.
It seems that the game is designed for you to switch between your sub weapons and weave them into combat, so there is NO manual reload. Especially egregious given that many enemies have quick time style "crit" attacks that you're suppose to shoot. Good luck doing that if you've been using your primary weapons to deal with any of the 20 other enemies attacking you. Can't count how many times i've been a shot or two shy of breaking the crit, trying to swap from my rifle to crossbow, only to be staggered by another enemies attacks and have the swap animation cancelled. In general, I've had multiple times where trying to swap between weapons and attacking just ends up glitching them out, locking you out of the ability to ADS or melee attack. Or when you think you've already pulled out a different weapon only to realize that because you dodged one of the 20 attacks on screen before the animation fully completed, your weapon didn't ACTUALLY pull out and you just end wiffing a melee attack at nothing, and taking damage. Yes, melee is bound to the same button as what you have to use to fire your weapon. And best part is, you're NOT allowed to ADS with your subweapon, so if you unintentally aim just due to muscle memory when you pull out anything that's not your rifle or crossbow, it AUTOMATICALLY stows that weapon. Wow, such great game design! I can't imagine why more games don't adopt this system! An absolutely terrible and frustrating experience.
Final boss is one of THE most overtuned bosses ever.... SO SO tanky with really annoying attacks. Honestly not even THAT hard but just really really annoying and unfun to play against.
Level design consists of combat encounters broken apart by brief traversal between each area. Puzzles are skin deep, and usually just consists of finding something you need to shoot/interact with, and moving on. There is a good variety of visual environments though, and the art style (subjective) I do like. Story is nonsensical but I can't really fault that, this isn't a game you're going to play for well written characters and deep storytelling. So on that aspect the game is fine.
So all that is to say, AVOID this game unless you have a really high tolerance for bullshit and frustration. If you want to play it because of the cowboy/vampire theme, just be mentally prepared to endure the awful systems the game has in place.

I’d say yes, because I enjoy old-school shooters and beat 'em ups. That’s exactly what Evil West is—minus a great story and memorable characters. Gameplay-wise, it’s straightforward and linear, but still fun. I finished the game and had a good time with it—and that’s what games are all about, right?

I'm only about three hours in, but for me, it's too many damn boss fights, and some of the save points are frustrating. Don't make me slog through the pre-boss mob again when I reload the game. Or better yet, LET ME SAVE MY GAME WHEN I WANT TO - I'M THE PLAYER.

Early 2000s love letter. It's Darkwatch meets The Suffering. Throw back gameplay, modern visuals. Will keep playing. Time limited tho.

Pretty much every level is the same design wise, you run from one giant arena to the next where you fight multiple waves of enemies that each have way too much HP. which doesnt make the fights harder it just makes them take way way too long.
The game is also very buggy, at least when playing in coop and you are not the host the animations are very off and out of sync, making it almost impossible to properly dodge enemy attacks. We also had multiple crashes each.

Not worth it for full price imo, but definitely go for it when on sale.
Easy going fun, especially coop on harder difficulty.

This looked like it would be so cool. Badass cowboy kind of thing. Rootin and tootin and shootin.
Man, you are a clunky melee weirdo with a revolver you just hold a button to spam without aiming. There's some other abilities you get but I don't have that kind of time.
The game also just looks like absolute shit. I have like 200+ frames on Epic but everything looked so grainy and gross. Enemies constantly flashing to show they're attacking or maybe using a move you have to interrupt was wack. Made all the enemies look overly glossed like something from the 2000's.
The melee controls for keyboard seemed so awkward. I push W and left click to jump forward but if I hold it down to long then I do an uppercut that I follow through with to do a larger attack. But sometimes the animation never happened for stuff so I kept holding the melee button. It felt so awkward to find the correct balance.
Sometimes I got hit and I just kind of took damage but didn't have any other feedback. Sometimes I was staggered by the same move from the big fellas.
I could also feel my dodge get stuck just like my left click didn't register a few times so I was just kind of standing there. Speaking of, sometimes the dodge would dodge an attack but then sometimes I would just get hit by the same move.
Lastly, there's too much glowing blue shit. I don't need to be shown where to go constantly. Every route. Every money. Every little pickup collectible was just shiny as HELL.
I could probably play more but the graphics being this ugly and bright were pushing me away pretty quickly anyway. I could see a sequel coming out to this being an absolute banger but this was not it.

Got hard locked on the third mission. Game just wouldn't progress even after reloading. Watched a video of gameplay to make sure I wasn't just missing something but i wasn't, game just broke for no reason. Waste of my time.

Fun game that takes you back to the xbox 360 era of gaming.
definitely not worth the full price, but at 75% discount I can recommend as a fun co-op game.
Long-ass tutorial tho, almost put me off on playing the game.

good game, above average, they let you fight with variety of skills and weapons, though they keep recycling their minibosses as normal enemies after we beat them as boss for the first time, it is still fun, enemies can be very spongy but thats the point of shoot em up anyway,
BUT the coop is mediocre, i keep crashing with 4070ti and 5800xd3, i have issues like game froze after a while and sound suddenly gone after the crash, had to restart the game again just to fix this issue, it is so bad i feel like i just wanna speedrun through my gameplay instead of enjoying the grind and shoot everything, because everytime you crashed, your progress reset, which is pretty annoying.
overall a 7.8/10 game
