Good game on Mobile and PC. Master of magic with Dominions combat and civ workers and cities. Good stuff. Plays very fast due to how light a game it is. You dont have a huge amount of variety or depth but this allows matches to play out quicker.
6/10
It's basically Age of Wonders without the graphics, and with automated combat.
Pros:
- Runs well - Has all the conveniences you'd expect from a 4x, and some I've not seen before like auto-summoning - Turns can go by extremely quickly compared to other 4x games since the AI turns are usually instantaneous - Despite the complexity, if you've played any 4x or AoW game, you'll catch on pretty quick - You can trade gold for mana or mana for gold at any time - Music is pretty good. Reminds me of Lords of the Realm 2
Mehs:
- The automated combat can be convenient, but even with battle orders, often my units don't really do what I want them to. Casters can often make or break 4x game battles, and it's the same here except you're at the mercy of what your casters happened to decide to do - Defender advantage is a bit too severe in this game. It does help protect your cities, but draws the game out too much - Has many units and spells, but there's nothing original there at all
Cons:
- Worst thing: there's no campaign. Unfortunate because a campaign could really help make it unique and set it apart. The game needs something like that since the graphics will scare most away - The simple graphics are mostly fine, except they often hinder the player's ability to tell what's going on. Like when I have a large domain, it's hard to see where enemies are approaching/entering it because they're just icons (and there are already icons everywhere). Ties into... - With a large domain, notifications about enemy armies are severely annoying to the point where I have to ignore them. You have to click multiple times to see where enemies are and they're usually rather weak and will easily die vs your city defenses anyway - It's really annoying trying to select your city vs the army in that city - There's no tech or building tree to look at so it's difficult to learn what needs to be built before what - Flying units don't fly in combat
