It was fun, the graphics a nice, however I do wish there was more to do with your dogs, and it can get kind of boring after a while since it's relatively easy.

I'm a simple man - I saw the game with the dawgs, I petted the dawgs in the game, I liked the game. But for real, if you're like me, at that stage in your life where you don't have as much free time as you used to (*cough* late 20's-mid 30's *cough*), this is a good fit, because the runs are just the right length to give you some tasty morsels of progression and story without feeling like you need to stay glued to the keyboard. The music, sound design, and environment are wonderful, and they serve as a great backdrop for pondering the game's always-relevant themes of belonging, overcoming adversity, building trust, etc.. (again, especially poignant themes for those going through a quarter-life or third-life crisis). And, the gameplay is the right mix of chill & challenging - it's definitely something you can play while holding a beer in your free hand, but there are still those moments that jolt you and force you to fix your posture and "lock in" to keep your team alive. I didn't encounter any of the game-breaking bugs that some of the other reviewers had pointed out. Just a couple of audio/visual glitches, but nothing that majorly detracted from the gameplay, in my opinion. I do agree that some of the standard voice lines do get a bit repetitive at times, but thankfully there's a setting to adjust those if preferred. In terms of gameplay and replayability, adding some more movement-oriented QTEs could help (e.g. a specific QTE you could hit to avoid being trampled by the elk, etc.). Maybe it does exist in the game and I just need to explore more :^) but for now, it's just one thing that sticks out. If it's not in the game, then I recognize that asking for it here is likely beyond the scope of the finished product, but expanding the QTEs to include more survival/movement actions (besides shooting/fishing) could be great in a sequel or even a DLC... I think this game is very much worthy of either. I like the concept of each pup having their own storyline (and being able to select a different leader on new runs after you finish the game), although I don't feel particularly compelled to rush through 100%-ing all the storylines right away. It took me ~3h of gameplay to reach the cabin. At the sale price, it's a really good value, and I think it'll be one of those games that I come back to every now and again. In terms of comparison, despite this game being survival-oriented, modern point-and-click narrative progenitors (e.g. Telltale games) seem to have the strongest influence. I've never really "gotten" the P&C genre, but this game made me realize I actually enjoy that sort of narrative-heavy format in a context where the player character is isolated. In that sense, it draws some stylistic parallels with the storytelling of prior classics I've enjoyed (e.g. Portal 1, Slime Rancher, Subnautica, Raft, etc.). For the setting, fans of games like The Long Dark or Kona will enjoy the desolate snowy vibes, assuming they are OK with giving up the use of WASD for a couple hours. At times, the core mechanics also made me feel more like I was playing a very intense board game while I managed resources and made sure I could make it through the next few steps in the journey (e.g. Pathway, For the King, etc.). But, with the gameplay loop being the manageable length it is, that format routinely cuts in the game's favor and allows for an enjoyable single-player experience without devolving into tedium. All in all, I recommend. P.S. Noodle is best pup & I would literally lay down my life for him :)

Very cute and fun, I really like the artstyle and all the doggies with their different personalities. I have to admit though it gets very repetitive after a while. I would love to complete the journal, I have already completed all of the doggie's stories, but I'm not sure if I really wanto to initiate the whole process, given the fact that there are many encaunters and everything is completely randomized.

did not think i would get at all attached to a dog sledding game that is functionally a roguelite in gameplay loop. but alas. delightful music, art style, and progression of each dogs' story that melds into a wonderful experience about finding yourself and building a home for your heart. short, sweet, and fun. absolutely recommend.

I'm trying to keep this short this time... So basically I would be content with this game, it's basically nothing different to an interactive movie, all you do is choose between option A,B or sometimes C. I was hoping for a more active game, but knowing that it's quite alright. Where my big con comes in though, is the fact that the game is SO SLOW. Not performance-wise, but your character keeps and keeps talking, she won't shut up and sometimes it feels like you have to make one decision over and over again because nothing happens. As annoying is the camping mechanic, because after doing something, the game takes like 5 seconds to give you back your cursor and you usually want to do abut 4 different things when you're at camp. And at last, for a game that's focused on dogs it was a bit disappointing to see such bad models made for them.

Very cute game thats clearly made with a lot of love and passion. The voice acting is done very well and believable which really gets you immersed in the little world of the game. Having each of your unique sled dogs to take care off and accompany you on your journey such a cute thing that i really enjoyed. This game is a good example that it doesnt have to be a huge game to get you invested. All it takes is a fun concept and a team that puts all their love and passion into their game. Props to the devs for making this hidden gem. Loved it.

This game is amazing. I love the elements of adventure and I'm also a big dog person, especially with Siberian Huskies. It really shows you how hard it is to survive out in rural Alaska but it also shows the beauty of Alaskan nature.

the game suffers from a game-breaking bug with a beaver encounter that completely soft-locks the game and prevents the player from obtaining all achievements legitimately. the community has been complaining about this for over a year and it has still not been fixed. apparently the developers had enough time to get the Red Lantern on Steam Deck, but none to actually fix their buggy game. the game also silently locks you out of some of the achievement-dependent events after you complete some of the dogs' stories and such, forcing you to start a new savefile and restart the entire tedious process of going on run after run hoping to trigger each RNG-dependent event required to fill out the journal, again. worse still, there appear to be a number of permanently missing unobtainable events/journal entries. the developers have had nothing to say about this either. not recommended. i'll update my review if and when the developers choose to stop ignoring the playerbase and actually fix the game.

Ashly Burch is great Doggies running in winter wonderland is great But the execution is awful, I encountered less bugs beating Cyberpunk 2077 when it was first released, than the game-breaking bugs I've met in half hour of this game

My game suffered from a run-ending bug that had no fix. Others in discussions complained of this bug year+ ago but no fix was published.
