They were going for something great in terms of depicting a story i really wanted to resonated, but the ending resolution was completely unearned. spoilers shes delirious and dying, having fled both her transphobic family and avoiding her found family, when mum shows up and without as much as an apology hugs her and the credits roll. this kind of trope usually comes with a grand apology for a reason. time skip 25 years and shes still living with her.

There's so much of this that feels so real, never more have I ever been seen by a video game. Only things that comes as close to getting me is NITW, and that's an incredibly high bar. And yes, I sobbed at this game like a bitch.

If found, the world might end, but perhaps that's okay. There will always be an opportunity to rebuild a better, happier one. An incredible game in every regard, from the story to the breathtaking art and music.

Inventive, short, but well paced visual novel type game. Not the type of game I'd usually play but I once saw the creators/dev team show a demo of this game, and always thought the art style was pretty unique. Once playing it, I was hooked. The whole game mechanic is well thought-out and ties nicely with the themes of the story. It's a simple story but with a lot of heart and care. The visuals and how they tie into the gameplay is astounding and definitely a huge highlight. I very much enjoyed this game and it deserves a play-through.

Devastating. Beautiful. And (a little bit) buggy, at least on macOS. Well worth it. It's short, but it's powerful.

The story itself is quite good and sometimes sad. There is nothing to do in terms of gameplay; you just erase the picture. Essentially, it is a digital book. I recommend reading it.

[Review after completing 100% of current content] To start, I'm too much of a coward to truly live the way that I want, or to explore my identity to find the "true person I am". This game was a hopeful adventure for what having supportive friends, and a lucky escape. The game-play is comprised of erasing your past, writing your future, and navigating in the dark to find your next story beat. Every stroke of erosion felt like a harsh reminder of the journey-and warbling relationships-Casio was made to go through as a young Irish queer long before my time. The story beats really resonated with my own journey towards my current age of 25. The thoughts that your room was never yours; a void of personality that you convinced yourself was a "safe space" despite it retaining the same state it was when you arrived. Medical. How resentful I was of Casio's ability to lose herself in the hustle of a crowd, or have someone find you when hiding away, avoiding the noise around you. In the simple words of the game: "I could not hold on to anyone". This is an incredibly well written queer story about the difficulties of staying loyal to yourself, all while a coinciding metaphor plays out about saving a world on a cosmic level. Or at least the one within ones self? It signs off with a wonderful epilogue showing the characters founding their place, ringing so close to people I've known that it left me enraptured. The beautiful Irish music gluing me to the words. It's a story that there's hope even in hopeless moments, and even if it's idealistic, sometimes it's what you need to hear. Picking a flag that represents you. Signing your name in the short tearjerker of a diary. Seeing some people simply walk away for their own sake. It really did hit where it clearly tried, and if you give it a chance you'll surely admire that too.

Getting older, it's hard to revisit how heavy everything felt as a young person. I ask myself — and Kasio — why we took it all so hard, made it so dramatic, put ourselves in such bad positions. I don't think I really liked this game. I paid close attention, I loved the sketchy art style, and some of the effects were mesmerizing. But I'm left with a furrowed brow and a sour taste in my mouth. I still recommend it. I think it might grow on me. There is an attitude of kindness, forgiveness, and acceptance of the past that eludes me in life, but it might be what this story is about. Some of the events at the end bummed me out, even though they were supposed to be happy and cathartic. I guess we just keep turning the page.
