I can't recommend this game to anyone but those who would like to play what amounts to a conceptual clone of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Game has good voice acting, solid graphics, really freaking nice combat, but it feels dated with a big but railroaded open world, and the story is not only ridden with predictable clichés, it's also - quite frankly - boring, even with the game trying to throw half-naked elves at you to retain your attention. Game design would already felt safe and generic in 2012; nowadays, it's downright pre-historic. Pros: it's sort-of-Oblivion, only with way better combat and in proper 3rd person view. Cons: it's sort-of-Oblivion, but decades have passed and there's already a Oblivion remake out there.

I discovered this game on my old X360. The artstyle immediatly caught my eye. It reminds me of my early days in World of Warcraft and let me tell you, this game gave me that same sense of wonder when I traveled the land. This game is a hidden gem of an rpg. I highly recommend to those that like similar titles like Skyrim, Witcher (Tho KoA doesn't have too much of a deep story).

Great game, still fun. Nice character progression and specialisation, nice combat system and upgrades, nice weapon/armour/equipment upgrade system...these are things I like. The story is good too :D

Launching game first time on my current system gave me EA server error. After trying twice I was near giving up on my ambitious goal of playing a 2012 game and hit ESC and lo and behold the whole EA thingy can be circumvented but nobody tells you or better yet deletes this ♥♥♥♥ from the game files. I got 600x400 resolution for starters and diving into game options gave me no option to change. I ran Lossless Scaling in parallel and after restarting game a resolution option appeared magically. Given the potential of my setup running the game in 4K would be no problem besides me lacking a suitable magnifying glass for the UI. From my impressions KOA Reckoning hasn't seen any curation or maintenance of game data in the last decade which was to be expected given EA's and Steam's history. After the IP was sold to THQ in 2018 there's even less incentive to do anything to improve user experience. Personally I don't get why I should pay again for a re-release that looks pretty much like the original. I enhanced my graphics with KOA care package from the Nexus and Lossless Scaling to magnify the UI. Now I'm a happy camper playing the original and avoiding another cash grab.
