I like when the "guided tutorial match" doesn't explain the steps that happens BEFORE the two tutorials that you played before it happens. What sort of map should I play against the opponents choice? What are the tile symbols on the map? What is the hazards step doing and why am I placing individual tiles on my and the enemy's map? Game: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "We explain information through it." Me: "But most of your information is reminder text that we already had in the other two rounds and DOESN'T EXPLAIN PRE-GAME SET-UP INFO!?" Game: My job here is done. Me: "But you didn't do an--" Game: NEXT ROUND! NEXT ROUND! Apparently the online is dead, but I think you should probably look elsewhere (TTS, other places) if you want to learn this, because good god is the tutorial BAD.

Warhammer Underworlds isn't for everyone, this is not because it's exceptionally bad, but because it targets a specific audience. This is a game made primarily for Warhammer series fans who already understand the significance of each race and appreciate the tabletop origins. If you're familiar with the physical game, you'll feel comfortable here since it closely mirrors the tactical, strategic, and slow-paced nature of the tabletop version with a card twist. The main problems are some technical and design issues that hurt the experience. There's a lack of music, poorly made sound effects, and a clunky UI that feels poorly optimized. Finding online matches takes forever, and the slow servers don't help when you're matched against passionate but extremely skilled players. For newcomers to the series wanting an offline experience, it's not worth the effort. However, if you want to start learning about the tabletop version with miniatures or are already a Warhammer fan in need of a simplified digital version to play with friends, there's value here as a complement to your tabletop knowledge.

it is too clunky compared to the board game version, and it is horribly outdated. It was supposed to follow the tabletop version.

This game is probably really great as an actual board game, but in the video game version, it becomes really apparently that it's basically worthless. It's so much goddamn RNG that you could literally do everything perfectly, and get fucked over because you got unlucky. If you do have a friend who wants to play the game, it's pretty fun, but trying to take the game seriously in any respect is impossible. Not to mention that public matchmaking is dead, but I wrote this review before even trying public matchmaking. Played a lot against bots and a friend. There's still something here though, buried beneath the bad
