Blacksad: Under The Skin is a Noir detective story set in 1950's New York, but if the world was only populated by anthropomorphic animals based on a spanish comic book, although I have not read said comic book. The game is taking a lot of notes from the Telltale Games, and sometimes it is less refined than those games but considering Telltale went belly up I think it's excusable. Since it's a Noir Detective Story starring a black cat and Noir being French for "black" is kind of a funny in-joke. Overall rating:Good

a game that seems like it'd be great and enjoyable just off the bit i was able to play, but man the performance is terrible i hope one day i can come back to this game when the devs care enough to fix it, but after seeing complaints dating back to 2019 i'd guess that's probably not gonna happen

I loved this game! Felt the story was super engaging, and loved the multiple ways it could have gone. The 'Your Blacksad' that showed your characters' personality metrics throughout the game was a really cool touch too. I do think that the deductions mechanics were a bit clunky and they did get stuck sometimes - forcing me to exit the game and start again - but the overall gameplay and story kept me coming back. Also think the QTE were a bit tedious sometimes but I really appreciate the repeated attempts functionality where you don't get locked out a story option because of your QTE choices (necessarily). Overall - amazing game, thoroughly enjoyed playing it!

I recommend this game and did not experience any glitches. just buy it. the controls are a little clunky and you have to directly press a button decisively instead of grazing the button. the graphics are ok and good enough to set the atmosphere which is really what is important for this game. this game is about thinking who you are talking to, believing in your choices, deductive reasoning, and the characters in this game will invest you in their roles. you become blacksad, and black sad becomes you. i have never played a detective game before but this did not disappoint even from the first 10 seconds of playing

Blacksad: Under the Skin is a stylish noir detective adventure that captures the gritty atmosphere and artistic charm of the original comic series. Set in 1950s New York and featuring anthropomorphic characters, the game puts you in the shoes (and trench coat) of John Blacksad — a hard-boiled private investigator with a sharp wit, a dark past, and the instincts of a true detective. One of the game’s strongest points is its storytelling. The mystery is engaging and unfolds at a satisfying pace, filled with twists, morally gray characters, and a moody jazz soundtrack that perfectly matches the noir setting. The dialogue is well-written, and your choices throughout the game matter — affecting both your relationships and the outcome of the investigation. The visuals are a highlight: the game brings the comic book art style to life with beautifully animated scenes, rich color palettes, and expressive character designs. The world feels lived-in and atmospheric, capturing the smoky bars, shady gyms, and rainy alleys of classic noir cinema. Gameplay-wise, Blacksad combines classic point-and-click mechanics with modern cinematic storytelling. You’ll investigate crime scenes, interrogate suspects, and use Blacksad’s "cat senses" to uncover hidden clues. The deduction system is well-designed and gives you a real sense of being a detective. While the game did have some technical issues at launch, most have been addressed through updates, and what remains is a unique and immersive experience for fans of narrative-driven games.

I just finished this game and played the entire thing on my steamdeck. It played very well, no graphical issues at all. As for the game, it is one of the greatest story games I have ever played. The voice acting is great, the story actually entertains you and the world and art are phenomenal. If you like story and point and click like games this game is an absolute must play. There is literally nothing wrong with it. You will enjoy the characters and enjoy the choices you get to make while solving the case. I hope more games are made like this, it was perfection.

Clunky, cliche, and just not very fun. It seems like they either rushed the development of this game or just didn't put much effort into it. I usually enjoy detective games, especially ones that allow player agency in how the story unfolds. However, Blacksad is just not a good representation of this game-style. I can't even get through the first handful of hours, it's that bad and boring. If you want to play a great detective games, just play Disco Elysium. Skip this one. 2/10 (the only reason it isn't getting a 1 is because the art-style is solid)

It's hard for me to understand why this game is not overwhelmingly positively reviewed. There are very few games that make you truly happy but Blacksad is one of them. Thanks to this game I became familiar with the comic books, and the art / storylines are just beautiful. The game can be a little clunky at times but overall the story is great, the developers did an amazing job at making sure you're fully immersed in the atmosphere. I enjoyed the puzzles, the soundtrack, the characters. I love noir, and this one really hit the spot. Too bad there aren't that many games like Blacksad. I think I've played all of the really good ones like Disco Elysium, Wolf Among Us, L.A. Noire... I'd love it if Pendulo Studios continued with the franchise - one can hope!

Can not recommend this until they fix it (which they probably won't). I'm sure it's a great game, but getting stuck on QTE due to stuttering issues - in a game relying on QTE - is not a good thing. It did leave me wanting more though, so I replayed The Wolf Among Us instead. Put your money there.
