Rise is one of those games that scratch a few itches no other games get close to. Imagine if Star Citizen didn't hold back on its systems' depth, and went HAM on the aerospace and space simulation aspect of it. Once in the game, you'll find the graphics are very retro and have this serial experiments Lain vibe to them, but if that's not your thing, do stick around, as the game has much more depth than is apparent. You'll start as a taxi driver most likely, learning your way through the interface, the intermedia (how you interact with everything), and the layout of the city, Deois. Create and explore waypoints on your GPS, drive around, pick people up, drive them to new places, see what these places have to offer. Once you're done with your first jobs, you can rent a truck and amp up on the income: Maybe now you can ferry cargo from outside the city, from the colonies of other players. THIS GAME HAS A FLIGHT SIMULATOR IN IT. That alone is bonkers. Any aviation enthusiast is absolutely not prepared for the level of detail that goes into Rise. Buy your Instrument Flight Route charts and head to the sim, where you can practice how to operate many different aircraft and spacecraft with zero risk. Once you're comfortable, you can talk to the many friendly Alliance owners that frequent the game daily, and show your interest. They will be happy to help and even bring you in if they can see you know how to treat a big vehicle without crashing it. Now the sky is not the limit anymore: Provide fuel and food to distant colonies, shoot that ILS approach to Runway 36 at Deois International when you're done, watch St.Elmo's Fire across your windshield as you climb on top of Vieneo's thick overcast layers, match your speed with the space station orbiting above, and bring those new citizens back down to the surface. Rise is unlike anything else out there, and even though it's not nearly as popular as it should be, it's an absolute treat.
