Objectively speaking, this IS the best Trainz game so far. By a wide margin? Not really.
Of course, it retains all the jank and issues with backwards-compatible content that you'd expect from this franchise, so this is nothing new - you eventually get used to it. However, there are some new additions that have been rolling up which I do want to mention:
The HD Terrain feature (currently locked to Trainz Plus users) is INCREDIBLE. It fixes SO MANY issues that the previous 5m grid had and runs SO MUCH BETTER that it leaves you wondering "how was this not implemented before?".
Surveyor 2.0 is also a MASSIVE improvement over the classic one (which you can still use anyways if you prefer), this being a base-game inclusion.
There are a handful of improvements of the lighting engine in comparision to TRS19, but it's nothing major. On the bright side, it runs at around the same level or performance from its predecessor (which is, admittedly, not great when it comes to super large routes), so if your computer could handle the previous iteration it too will handle this one.
This game goes on sale very often, so if you're planning on upgrading from TRS19, or is starting to play Trainz for the very first time, I'd say wait for a Steam Sale and get the Platinum Edition Bundle, it is absolutely worth it!
