Normally, when you first launch a game built on the Unreal Engine, it crashes, in this case, it restarted my entire computer. While playing, I had to save every time I exited the pit hole because it frequently threw a fatal error. After finishing the whole game, I couldn’t even exit back to the menu normally because it just threw some weird error at me. Minor bugs like been killd while using a cannon or the attack or music not turning off after the attack ended aren’t even worth mentioning because there were quite a few of them. Overall, aside from the bugs, the game is just a boring waste of time. It takes 7 hours to finish the whole thing, and the entire time it’s just digging --> trying not to get killed when getting out of the hole --> upgrading in the hope that things won’t get worse --> clicking on mutants during a horde, and that’s it—zero satisfaction. I thought that maybe fixing this car would unlock something interesting, but it turned out that, just like flying the drone, driving it is a total disaster. The base upgrades and the ones you can find underground are weird and unbalanced. Unlocking the shield at the base completely took away any fear of not surviving the horde, some of the main cannon upgrades are just a nuisance, like the option for three shots in a burst—not only does the recoil mean only one bullet hits anyway, but it would be better to upgrade the rate of fire and hit with every shot. Digging that hole—which is probably the main mechanic of this game—is the thing I was most disappointed with. You can’t do it neatly; you constantly have to work around everything, so in the end it looks like a mess. Dynamite costs quite a bit, especially at a time when using it actually makes sense—because later on, the holes it creates are too small to justify using it, and you can’t even upgrade it. The object scanner is completely unreadable because when you click on a scan, dozens of objects appear all around, so what’s the point if you just need to dig a meter in any direction and you’ll find something (maybe if you could switch to detecting only one type of resource, it would have some use). On the plus side, the game definitely deserves credit for its graphics and optimization (setting aside the constant bugs and fatal errors). The music is also good enough that you don’t need to turn it off. Overall, I’d rate this game a 3.5/10 because the worst part is that this score probably won’t improve even if the bugs are fixed.
