I have played all parts of Tales of Nebezem out so far, with Red Peril being the latest. Loved them all... except this. Unfortunately I am forced to say that the developer should stick to things they are good at, and RPGs don't fit that criteria. The game is a terribly boring, time-consuming, grindy slugfest. Out of entire playthrough almost everything was spent on watching slow animations of spells, attacks, and whatnot, while trying not to fall asleep in my seat. Too many, too long, and none of them skippable. Almost all battles after tutorial in Red Peril are against multiple enemies (4-5 usually), they all have tons of hp regardless of their classes/types(that goes the same for player characters), there is no bestiary or anything to find out their potential weaknesses or even just keep track of things you found out the old trial and error way. Unless you're willing to grind, even with completing all of the side-quests available, enemies are just about similar danger-wise to player heroes, and with there always being so many of them, with lots of hp each, attacking hard, that ends in a major slugfest, tug of war of heals and the constant animated back and forth of attacks, repeated at least 5 times per area. There is simply no enjoyment, entertainment, or challenge to be found in the major part of the game. Due to how invariably similar enemies tend to be, and how little skills usage changes over time it almost feels like one and the same battle dragged on into infinity. The story depicted was also rather disappointing and all side quests were pretty unimaginative, to say it nicely. The only reason I completed this was my love for the series and wanting a closure on it.
