incision is a gem amongst the boomer shooter market you cannot miss, the game is extremely unique in the genre, both in its gameplay, and most of all its ambience. incisions whole feel is something else, its something many games tried and failed, hell even titles like ULTRAKILL failed to make fleshy and nightmarish environments feel truly disgusting and feverish. incision feels like a fever dream, flesh everywhere, everything is a mixture of disgusting, fleshy, rotten and apocalyptic, just from the trailer, this look attracted me and this look is what i got, flesh caverns, flesh factories, flesh temples, flesh cities, flesh everything and everywhere, a nightmarish sight incision mastered. the music and sound effects also really help, the music is like torture to the ears but in a good way. a fever dream is truly the best way to describe this game, and i think it succeded in this regard, 10/10. the combat is also awesome, you have a unrivaled characted control which allows you to do precise movements to parkour, or dance through the bullets to avoid all damage, the enemies while theres not many, are very fun to fight especially thanks to the aforementioned movement, but especially because of the GUNS. the guns are so awesome, they are some of the most satisfying and fun pieces of violence offered by gaming itself, i would buy incision just for the guns ohhh god they are great, i think you should experience them for yourself, each shot releases dopamine, each pellet that connects makes my spine tingle with joy. another small aspect i wanted to point out is this games ending and starting screen of the levels. each level starts with a photo of the level, which always looks nightmarish, with then a snippet from the protagonists mind, talking about what is happening, his plans, and i just think its really cool, it reminds me of postal 1 if anyone ever played that game, and i think thats awesome, i loved those starting screens, and i loved to see them back here, the games lores are very different though, while in postal 1 you are insane and think everyone around you is insane, in incisions you are the only normal guy left, and everything else is insane. the protagonist is also the embodiment of the indomitable human spirit faced by an insormountable obstacles, still fights and succeeds, thats a plus in my book. while i truly love incisions, i feel like obviously criticism is due where its deserved, and i have two main gripes with the game. the first one being, the game doesnt have any quick weapon switching, at all, which is weird given the kind of game this is, every part of the gameplay is fast, you are a speeding bullet, a true unstoppable force, but then you need to wait for the minigun to completely unrev before you can switch to another weapon. it is pretty frustrating, but it might have been a choice of the developer i dont understand. the second one, much bigger issue, is the level design is often really confusing. especially in episode 1, youll find yourself not knowing where to go, backtracking everywhere stumbling in the dark not knowing where you are supposed to go. it is a very frustrating issue, tho i hope with future content if theres plans to have any (i sure do hope so, this game left me really wanting more) the levels will get easier to follow, episode 2 kinda aldready made the situation better, but still. another thing you might want to know is that incision is a very short game, in 6 hours i finished it, its a game that leaves you really wanting more, and i wish it stayed a bit longer. overall incision has flaws that can totally be ignored in favor of the awesome gameplay and gritty ambience you simply cannot pass on, i highly raccomed incision, and wait patiently for future content and levels.
