Okay, someone bring the gold trophy here. No, not the gold trophy. The PLATINUM trophy! We have a winner here. I have offocially found the SCARIEST and MOST TERRIFYING game ever made! And, do you know how this game manages to instill such fear? With the best thing in the world: simplicity. Technically, this game is very very very simple, BUT, the atmosphere has been built so well, the gameplay has been designed so intelligently, that you will pee in your pants during every single second of your playthrough. But what is, precisely, this game? Nix Umbra relies on the same exact concept of the notorious game Devil Daggers (which I strongly recommend as well): you have to survive as long as you can against an incredibly ferocious horde of skulls, spiders, and... bats, I guess? The difficulty of the game has been set on very high levels on purpose, so that each playthorugh lasts something like... a few minutes, not more. The aim of the player is to survive a bit longer at each playthrough, with the final goal of reaching the highest score on the global leaderboard. Like Devil Daggers, Nix Umbra is nothing more than a race against other players, and above all against yourself. It is the exact definition of the word "challenge", a true old school mercyless game which manages to be incredibly addictive, rather than frustrating. If you die, it doesn't matter, because you have lost just a few minutes of your time. But those few minutes have been incredibly intense, and above all SCARY! This game is absolutely terrifying, the darkness is so thick that you can see no further than a scarce meter ahead of you, and the creatures are a NIGHTMARE! They are terribly creepy, they make no sound untill they are right on your ass, and they literally come out of nowhere! The challenge is based exactly on this strong and constant terror that never, never leaves you. At last I found a truly original horror game, different from any other! I have played just for one hour so far, and my record is: 5 minutes survived, 9th place in the global leaderboard (which has yet to be populated, of course, since the game has just been released). If you want to experience true fear, if you want to feel alone, helpless, hopeless, lost amongst God knows what kinds of monstrosities lurking in the most total darkness, then this is surely the nightmare you are looking for. Go ahead, and prepare to wash a lot of pants. Cheers guys!
