I'm not sure what I expected and I'm not sure what I got. It's artistically impressive in a fever dream way, but as a game I'm not even sure what the game here is.

Simple, innovative and spooky.
You need to survive as long as you can in a pitch black world with very limited vision. You will die. A lot. And you need to as well, it is the only way to understand what you are up against. The unknown has always been scary, horrifying even and Nix Umbra uses that primal fear very well with black & white graphics and excellent sound design.
After dying to everything at least once, the game starts to make itself more clear, you start feel more in control. And that feeling is pretty fun, as if you are conquering the void through... knowledge and experience alone. No complex weapons, no complex items, just darkness that is difficult to understand but not impossible.

Obviously there are people out there that may enjoy this but I didn't enjoy anything about it. It takes too long to find crystals and isn't fun in the mean time.
