---UPDATE---
This is an update to my first review, and a change in my judgment of the game. I played about 10 hours of the second patch (May 2024), and i must say that many of the issues i found in the game at launch are solved. It's much more polished, and the events are generally more connected, dynamic and enjoyable. It's still not perfect, and i still do NOT appreciate that you can't just blast the head off a cannibal as soon as you see her, but this is relatively minor. Relatively.
The devs put much into this game, they listen to the fans, they improved the game a ton. It's actually an enjoyable game now in my book and they deserve a chance. I leave my original take below to show the difference, but as i said, the game deserves a chance.
Avoid. Avoid for now.
The game characters have nonsensical reactions to event in game and to what happens and what you do.
Probably bugs in the action/reactions scripts, or just bad writing, but just to make ONE example, a very important NPC gets hanged, his friends do not react, nobody seems to talk about the event, you can't even speak about it to the governor of the place that did the hanging.
This is just one example, the one that was the proverbial last drop for me that drove me to uninstall the game, but there were many other similar instances in my playthrough.
Note when i published this review, and wait to check if there are patches or other things because right now the experience is frustrating at best, and i am truly angry at myself, because i started playing despite the bad reviews to have an open mind, and because i have a soft spot for everything that comes from australia.
But this game... it's bad. Right now it's bad.
