A very unique take on the "point and game" game mechanic: I had yet to see a game that had a collage-like artstyle, which gives Smile for Me its own unique identity. While the game is short, it still takes its time to establish the characters' personalities in fun and creative ways. Akin to Undertale, the game guides you to use kindness in order to achieve the best ending, but you're still free to finish it as you like, which can allow for unique character moments and finale. Its puzzles are pretty creative, and do require some thinking in order to decide how to use certain items, but if you're stumped, there's a mechanic that gives you hints on how to progress. The characters are all fun and have very distinctive personalities: you're definitely going to end the game with one of them as your favorite! Sometimes it can be a bit difficult to navigate in the area, and the first person perspective can make some people feel dizzy: I didn't have much problem with that, but I know that for some it can be a bit tiring for the eyes. As a warning: while the game is overall on the light-hearted side, there's some moments that can induce a bit of anxiety, there's hints of childhood trauma, and, if you're afraid of dentists or teeth in general, well, this game dwells quite a bit on that. Nothing explicit, but it can be a bit unnerving at some points. To conclude: Smile for Me is a short yet lovely experience, with colorful characters and creative ways to go and reach the ending. It's got a heartwarming message about forgiveness and new beginnings, and the artstyle is unique and fun. Dunno if it's something for everyone, but, as for me, I recommend it. 9 flowers out of 10, it will make you habby! : - )
