I've obviously not played enough to write a review based on a complete testing of the game. Nevertheless, given the lack of advice or even description on Steam or elsewhere I feel it might be helpful for anyone wondering whether or not to buy this game. This game is the only game I know which adresses both space, different solar systems and planet surfaces where you deploy facilities (factories) and units (eg infantyr, artillery, etc). In a way, it's like Shadow Empire meets Distant Worlds. Of course planet management is a lot more simple than a game fully dedicated to that aspect, but nevertheless resource and population management need attention. There are roads in between complexes, railroads even. Supply on land can be enhanced with supply depots. When conquering a planet you have to outcome its space defense and then land with air/land units and conquer the planet at surface level. Put in a resource management system quite unlike other 4X games (it's more a grand strategy/wargame IMO) and you have the ingredients for a great game. But I make some reservations. The learning curve is *steep*. The UI is functional and is not the main problem, although it probably could be better. With this kind of game UI is dated/convoluted more often than not, so it's ok, at least by my standards. The real problem is that, although the tutorials show in detail some aspects of the UI and mechanisms of the game, some other stuff is completely left to the player to discover, first and foremost resource management. You start first with a lot of supplies but not much production, esp. power plants. Guess what happens after a while ? You can very well end in a deadlock : no resources, no facilities building, no facilities, no resources etc. Lack of tutorial on how to deal with resource production does not help. Up to now I don't know what a supply depot really does. I'm directed towards Supreme Ruler wiki, a game I've never played. But despite all this frustration due to trail and error and lack of documentation, I keep going back to the game. Even as I quit a game because it's all gone wrong and I'm frustrated, I'm back one hour later with another play to test a different approach. So if you're interested by strategy game, that the "both planet/space" concept appeals to you and that you like Shadow Empire (or obviously Supreme Ruler), it's definitely a game to try. I don't garantee you'll love it, but It definitely has hooked me and this doesn't happen often.
