I have found that some games have an impressive amount of positive reviews while at the same time being relatively meh games. In other cases, I believe it was because they had done nothing particularly wrong or grindy, leading players to give it a positive review (oftentimes mentioning that it was meh in it), since there is no neutral rating available. However, this is not exactly the case, since this game does many things wrong, especially by point & click adventure game standards: - super slow walking speed with lots of backtracking, the worst combo; - small hotspots with no way to make them obvious, so lots of boring pixel hunting; - the cat moves when you click somewhere, including hotsposts, so some puzzles can become quite annoying to complete; - the way you use and combine objects left a lot to be desired; - minigames 100% break immersion, but luckily there are just a couple of them; - translation is passable at best; - most achievements you get by playing the game, the only two that you can miss are hard to find and you'll have to replay a lot to get there, and likely follow a guide, since... - lastly, the game saves automatically, with no option to save manually; actually, the game practically has no options whatsoever. All in all, it's more akin to an old hidden object game rather than a modern point & click game. The art is very nice, music is ok for a while, but it's practically the same for the whole game, so it gets boring; sound design isn't that great. The story is also ok, I guess you'll like it a lot more if you are into eastern fairy tales (not really my cup of tea I guess? Although I have my suspicions that it had more to do with the way this particular one was told, rather than the genre in general). It's still cool that it was done by just two people, although I'm not sure it's enough to save it for me. Overall, I was going to give it a positive rating with a neutral review, but re-reading what I wrote, I'm clearly more inclined towards a negative one. I really hope the subsequent games by BOV (which I have already bought XD) are better than this one.
