Highly recommend for people who love dungeon crawlers and are fans of games like Dragon Quest Monsters for Game Boy Color. If you enjoy deep strategic combat systems and you like to grind, this game is very well something for you. Story: Incredible well written, you are thrown into the cold water, no background or context given for characters But the more you progress the darker everything will get, as more and more is revealed. Gameplay: You have to level up puppets and transfer them into new ones to get better stats and desired skill. There are also different pacts you can put your puppets into, they all have strategic different effects. The bosses can be very hard and require a good team comp or XP grinding. There are different weapon types and element types. You need to combine both for extra damage for some bosses. Also you can cast magic, and formations. So while the battle system can be very complicated. Design: I personally like the artstyle, the enemies are very well drawn as well. The humor in the game is pretty dirty so you might skip that if you do not enjoy it. There are multiple cases of brutal rape with a even more brutal death involved. While the Artwork is pretty bright and reminds me of Prof. Layton, the game is pretty hardcore sometimes, so keep that in mind.

I cant recommand this game. The positive: The story is fine. I like the characters, they are fun. The negative: - Exploration: Doungeon exploration is no fun in this game. There are lots of mechanics that make it a torture. One example is that you get fall damage if you step on the wrong tile. The fall damage is so much it almost kills you. There are pitfalls that you cant avoid, on the very first map is one where you have to step on to get further in the game. After I fell down my party was almost dead and the next random encounter killed me. Having your party die because of things you cant avoid is no fun. Also the tiles where you fall down dont look much different from the normal ones. From the way the camera is positioned its difficult to spot this tiles. And dying everytime you did not pay 100% Attention while walking is frustrating and in my opinion very bad game design. The second problem I have is that the doungeons are often designt in way where its difficult to find the way to the next area. This alone would not be a problem if you could not accidently fall down. Because then you could look around and search everything. But when you can fall down and also have to search everyhting closely. It becomes torture. I had to use a walktrough because I didnt find the next floor in the first doungeon a few times. - Class / Skill System: your fighters learn only very few skills and most of them are not usefull. Normal attack is mostly better than the skills you get. I mostly used the heal spell. This makes the battles very repetitive. You just spam normal attack and heal if necessary. On level 20 my characters had 2 to 4 skills and at most one usefull one. There are similar games where you have big skill trees or already have a docen of very usefull skills at that time. - Enemy Difficulty: Every time I got to a new floor the enemies got much stronger and almost wiped out my party. Which was really enoying and let to a few party deaths. But after I defeated a few of the new enemy groups and got new weapons they suddenly became really week and I could kill them without any problems. Didnt heal ones after 20 battles. This is bad difficulty skailing. It should not be so that they are very difficult at first and become pushovers in a few minits. Enemies between floors should not be so much different in skaling and you should not get so much stronger with just a few levels. Enemy HP and attack should raise much slower, just as your own stats should raise much slower. So that strategic planing makes the different not just your level. - Puppet Repair: When you die in the game you loose lots of loot and your puppets all get damaged which costs you a lot to repair. The repair costs where often so high that I asked my self often if it would be better to just reload the old game file than to continue on. Because I paid more money than I got. This is a problem in a game where you can easily get game overs just because of the bad game design. The fall damage or the bad difficulty skalling often got me dead. Now seeing that I lost more many then I got made me mad. - Transitions between story and exploration: what really enoyed me about this game is how it transistions between the story sections to the exploration a few times. There are situations where you walk trough a doungeon map then you reach your destination and now you have to walk all the way back to continue the story, while you are in the middle of the map. After you watched the story you have to walk again to the same section of the doungeon. Which is just unnesasary back tracking. Which makes the game unnessaryly longer.
