Zuersteinmal finde ich das Worldbuilding super interessant. Die Mischung aus Fine Nights at Freddys und Chucky die Mörderpuppe gemixt mit Cartoon zwischensequenzen die leicht an My little Pony bzw. Nickelodeon erinnern habe ich so noch nicht gesehen. Alle 3D Modelle sind Einzigartig zu dem Spiel (oder Serie) und nicht von der Stange. Das Charakterdesign ist gelungen allerdings sind die Labyrinthe ein repetetiv und erinnern stark an die alten Nintendo Klassiker.
Es ist Abwechsungsreich mit teils echt anspruchsvollen Rätseln und einigen unterschiedlichen Horrorszenarien. Allerdings bin ich zum derzeitigen Stand EXTREM an der Kameraführung verzeifelt, was noch dringend gefixt werden muss. Auch die Startmenüführung ist wenig Intuitiv, Neue Fähigkeiten und Steuerung im Allgemeinen wird nicht wirklich erklärt und man wird oft ganz schön überfordert allein gelassen. Das kann man mögen, allerdings wäre eine Art der Beschreibung - und wenn es nur eine Option zur Tastenbelegung gäbe oder eine eine InfoSeite "How to play" sehr Wünschenswert. Allein die Tatsache, dass ich erst nach 2h festegestellt habe, dass man sich ducken kann, oder dass man eine neue Fähigkeit über Leertaste aktiviert hat mich wirklich frustriert. Geschichtlich ist das Spiel jetzt nicht überragend, aber ich mag die Athmosphäre, den Stil, und das Gameplay war auch nicht schlecht. Hier wurde sich auf jeden Fall Mühe gegeben auch wenn die Ausführung noch ausbesserungsfähig ist. Ich hoffe, es wird noch optimiert.

Das Spiel ist Super. Nur leider funktionieren bei mir die Zwischen Video Sequenzen nicht. Bild bleibt schwarz. Nur Ton und Schrift ist da. Und ich komme nicht ins Finale Kapitel. Nach der Sequenz vor dem Finale bleibt das Bild schwarz und Tastatur reagiert nicht.

I want you to know that this review contains spoilers so make sure to play the game before reading. ;)
I must say that this game is amazing. It has challenging puzzles, an interesting story and scary jumpscares - in other words, all that a good horror game should have. But there are a few things in the game I have to criticize and I really hope that they will be fixed soon to make this game even better than it already is.
So first of all, in the first level after getting the water from the kitchen, the player has to find Ruby's Hiding Holly doll which says "come find me". Depending on in which direction Ruby looks, the sound comes from where the doll is placed - but only if the player doesn't move the camera while the sound is playing. If the player does move the camera while the sound is playing, the direction from which the sound comes from hasn't changed. So for example, if you stand on the left side of the doll and the camera is behind Ruby, the sound comes from the left side where the doll is; if you move the camera so that you're not seeing Ruby from behind anymore while the sound is playing, it still comes from the left but the doll is placed in a completely different direction what makes it seem like the doll is teleporting randomly around the room. (I really hope you could understand what I meant, my English isn't that good, to be honest.)
In the level after Ruby rescued Esther and they both fleed from Mr. Hopp, the player comes across a puzzle with some buttons on the floor that have to be pressed. At this point, I have three things to criticize. If Ruby or a box stand on any of these buttons and Esther also steps onto this button where Ruby or the box stand, a sound will play that assures the player of a button being pressed that could confuse him so he thinks that this is a bug and that the game didn't note Ruby activating the button though the button sure was activated.
There are two buttons in the left corner and one button in the right corner upstairs. The player needs a box to activate one of these buttons. Normally the player would push it to the right corner so Esther and Ruby could stand on the buttons in the right corner but if he decides to push it to one of the two buttons in the left corner and Ruby stands on the button in the right corner something weird will happen when all of the buttons are activated: If Esther steps onto the button on the opposite side of the button where the box stands in the left corner while Ruby stands on the button in the right corner, the box will be replaced with Ruby and Ruby will be replaced with the box.
And the third thing I noticed: At the end of the hallway with the gramophone is a door. If you enter it and then want to get back you'll get a jumpscare from the Mr. Hopp spider whereupon a dialogue between Ruby and Esther follows. However, if Ruby already stands on a button and Esther is alone, this dialogue still starts to play. But how can Ruby talk with Esther if she isn't with her? This also means that the one sentence from Ruby "Now I hate spiders and carnivals" in the level with the maze wouldn't make any sence anymore since she wasn't there when Esther saw the Mr. Hopp spider.
A little thing I noticed is when Esther and Ruby are together, it's possible for Ruby to be stuck when entering a room because she would just run against the wall until the player gets near her, for example in level 1G.
In level 2A, where Esther and Ruby realize that they're trapped in The Underworld, the player enters a room that's flooded with green poison. Recently, I've played through this level once again and I noticed that this poison didn't hurt Esther at all. Normally, it would kill her but as I stepped onto it, nothing happened and I could just go over it like it was the normal floor.
In the same level at the point where you can hear a rope and the crying of a man, you'd see the sillhouette of two persons standing in the corner but that's not always the case. Just wanted to mention that.
In level 2E where Ruby is chased by Miss Bo, the player has to hide behind small walls. I noticed that the player can hide anywhere when pressing the c key without actually "hiding". Even if he tries to hide right in the middle of the way Miss Bo won't chase after him, although you'll get the jumpscare if you're to close to her.
In the beginning of level 3B before Esther is chased by Mr. Stripes, the door closes - well, it should close but instead it sometimes glitches weirdly into the wall and it doesn't close until you get near it. At least in my case.
In the level where Ruby must solve 3 puzzles inside of the nursery, there is one puzzle where the player starts at 01 and has to count up the next number with the number before them what makes the next number that the player has to step on in order to get to the star, for example 01 and 02 makes 03 so you need to step on 03 next and then 02 and 03 makes 05 etc. But there is one problem a this point: 03 and 05 makes 08 but there's only 07 which means that the following numbers are false because 05 and 07 would make 12 which is the next number the player needs to step on in the game but since 03 and 05 makes 08 it has to be 05 and 08 which makes 13 and not 12. And so the following numbers that lead to the star are false. (Or have people including me been misunderstanding this puzzle? I mean even if you add 07 to 12 it would definitely not be 24, right?) It's also kind of confusing that when you solved the puzzle, you'll still hear that sound of failure when stepping on a wrong number.
If the player has collected all the gemstones and fights against The Entity to get the good ending, it's possible for Esther to freeze in her "dash animation" if the player permanently hits the shift key, what makes it easy to avoid being hit by The Entity's attacks because Esther is permanently as fast as she is when pressing the shift key in order to dash. Although it's still possible for her to block and attack, it looks very cheap since she does not perform the usual animations.
One little thing I'd like to add is that It's possible for the characters, in other words Ruby and Esther, to glitch into each other what also makes it look really cheap. It'd be realistic if the character who isn’t the player would just step aside or if the player could just push the character away instead of glitching into him like it's done in most other games.
All in all, this game is a thrilling 3d horror game and even though there are some bugs, I would definitely recommend it since they don't disturb the amazing experience you'll make either way at all. And even if it does, then only a little bit. ;) As I mentioned earlier, it has a lot to offer. Even easter eggs can be found! When playing it, I really felt the attention to detail that was put into it, just like in the games before, and it's definitely worth the money. Though I still hope that the things I criticized will be fixed soon. I wouldn't mind if it wasn’t fixed since programming can be really difficult but it would make the game much better than it already is.
