Playtime: 80 minutes
Visually I enjoy the ps1/ n64 style, the voice acting fits what needs to be done, the game-play is well optimized. However, I need to be blunt. while, I enjoy the game the following is a serious issue with the game. 1) The game expects you to know upon booting up you use the E key to inter the level instead of the universal Enter key. 2) While, you explore the tutorial levels. Not once or ever does the game explain how to crouch using the c key or how the crouch function works. You Only remain crouching when your not moving. This is a odd choice because n64/ ps1 games of which this game seems to be based on had crouch walking mechanics which I would loved to have seen implemented. 3) The game punishes you for following what the game taught you to avoid. After, crouching the purple plant like things. The player is taught not to touch or walk into these objects. However, after, the Oni fight. You have to touch 4 of these things in order to progress the story. 4) Boss battles are poorly explained. When, fighting the Oni you have urns, a fountain, and a turn table. The game only shows the jars with icons and the turn table with the icons. A new player might put the jar on the fountain and expect something to happen. Which you wait, avoid attacks, pit up the jar, put it on it's stand, and repeat 2 more times. A similar issue but worse issue happens during the Mr Hopps fight while using the cameras. A Fnaf player would wait for Mr Hopp to run at you then use the camera. But this ends in a game over. Trying to constantly flash every hall ways would still result in a game over even if you were quick on your feet . The game will later punish you for not going against what the game taught the player which is a serious mistake. However ignoring these flaws and questionable control choices. Mr Hopp 3 still is a good light hearted game that made me wanna inspect where ever I could to get the true ending. I would recommend this game to people who want to have a fun goofy gaming session . For the asking price I can't bash the game to hard. However yet again the controls and game-play does cause issues that will make people just not play the game. Which leaves me confused weither I could recommend this game. Ignoring if I could or couldn't recommend this game is dependent on the fun value. An I think there's plenty of goofy fun and charm making this game worth buying ignoring the flaws the game does have. Mr Hopp3 in my opinion feels like a cartoon from a saturday morning with how silly it can be and I love it for that.
