So personally, as someone who has played rhythm games/rhythm game components within games, I find this game very fun. But I will also say that while this game is a fun experience, it's also a pretty pricey game to get into.
I've played this game on both PS5 and PC now, in that order, and when I first played it, I found the gameplay pretty fun and it gave me a challenge that someone at my player level could enjoy and try to master. Of course, while there are good songs in the base catlogues of Respect, Portable, Portable 2, etc. I don't like most of the songs in those playlists. Now that's where the DLCs come in.
Now the main staple of DLC content are the Respect V packas and the newly introduced Liberty packs, adding bits of lore to the game's characters while also having a pretty catchy catalogue of songs to go through. Unfortunately, on PS5 you only have access to these packs as well as whatever DLCs were released before Respect V came out, so all the other Collab DLCs are PC exclusive, which is a pretty odd choice to me. Not to mention that the prices of the DLCs are extremely pricey, yet I feel like with the mixed quality of songs in the base game, plus the immense catalogue locked behind a paywall, it kinda almosts makes you feel like you HAVE to buy them to enjoy the game more.
So while I can say the game is pretty fun for rhythm game fans, don't go diving into this game at the full price point. Wait for sales on the game and DLCs and see what ya think. I mostly play on 4 button (Thinking about pushing higher) and just jump into some casual freestyle when I'm burning time, so it fulfills a solid experience for me.

Difficult if you're using an Xbox controller, especially the D-Pad, as hitting a long left note while trying to hit up WILL break your combo every time. I try to use keyboard but I keep hitting Caps Lock instead of shift, so I guess I need to train my hands.

I like many of the songs giving a variety of tunes to tap along to. There are also maps for a 4,5,6, and 8 buttons so even after completing the 4 button maps you can go back to higher button counts to increase the challenge (and enjoyment). There is a bit of a steep learning curve if you are fairly new to rhythm games. The game does provide a solid online play in my experience of it and the mission mode can ease you into the game with levels increasing in difficulty.

If you are going to play this game single player then this game is 100% worth it, however if you are gonna play ranked games then be prepared to play against the same guy you just lost another 4 games in a row or play against someone from high ranks. From my experience if you are new and you want to start playing ranked then you are gonna play vs someone from plat or above from last season, becouse for some magical reason they are now in bronze or silver and if you want to get rewards from battlepass you have to play ranked games becouse in singleplayer you are not getting enough points or you have to grind the game.

Fantastic game, 10/10 gameplay the only issue is most of the best songs are locked behind DLC but definitely worth picking up ON SALE.

DJMAX is probably the best feeling gameplay out of every rhythm game on offer right now. Song selection starting out is pretty good. Asking price is very expensive and dlc are too. Definitely a game you get on a sale.

Muse Dash player here - I still love Muse Dash but after 300+ hours I started to get a bit bored. I didn't master every song or anything, I just enjoyed the music and the challenge. I wanted something with some deeper gameplay challenges as I pretty much topped out what I could do in there and wanted something more. DJMAX was very attractive as I liked the collab songs a lot. So I gave it a shot and I'm so glad I did. 4B was pretty easy as I was already used to using my first two fingers and so I tried out 6B and that completely sent me back to beginner mode which was exactly what I wanted. From there I've built back up and see myself playing for along time to come. The song catalogue has a ton of bangers and the patterns are great and take some time to learn which is nice as I like feeling that improvement over time and practice. 10/10 recommend to anyone like me who likes Muse Dash but wants something more.
