I wasn't exactly sold on the direction Amanita took with Chuchel, Pilgrims or Happy Game (the last of which I didn't play since it seemed too much like Chuchel). Thankfully with this title Amanita seems to be back to their old schenanigans - which is to say a fantastic hand-drawn world which combines cheerfulness and a few dark undertones, an amazing soundtrack and a decent (if simple) story.
The one new thing here is this is a puzzle-platformer rather than a point-and-click approach. On the PC with a keyboard the controls work really well so this sidestep from the usual didn't bring in any technical issues. The puzzles themselves are all well paced and pretty smart, and while some puzzle solutions have a timing component to them it was never a matter of dexterity.

After "Machinarium", Amanita Games never really matched that experience (for me). Creaks also doesn't quite reach that masterpiece experience, but is still very good in its own right.
While the puzzles start out too easy (almost to the point of the game being too slow), it becomes more interesting at the midway point and finishes off well.
The art is fantastic, and atmosphere evokes that creepy whimsy that these games strive for.
The game is also pretty big, so you'll definitely a longer experience out of it (as opposed to the sit down and beat machinarium in 1-2 sessions).
