Every time I begin this Chapter it freezes. Ive tried everything... I want to love this game but the glitches and freezes are making it not worth the long repetitive dialogues and very unintuitive and sometimes glitchy clues.

Chapter 4 is far harder than chapters 1-3, and expertly balances puzzle-solving with world-building. Here, you go through Eddie's dreams and sets the pattern for character-building through exploring their own subconscious. It reminds you that dreams are personal, and makes you feel uncomfortable about invading someone's mind, but only to get rid of the *real* invasion. I never found myself completely and utterly stuck in this chapter, but it does only get harder from here on out. The game is beautiful as always, and the concept of the dreamscape as presented here is something I'd never thought about before. Loved this when it came out, and still love it now.

If you've played the last 3 parts it starts to get a lot harder here. Still workable but there's a lot of content to take in and the setting is somewhat darker than previous installments. I was glad when I got to the finish but probably not for the right reasons.

Chapter 4: One of the more enjoyable chapters for me in The Dream Machine. It had an interesting puzzle aspect of re-arranging "people" in rooms so they could interact differently. I also liked the aesthetic and setting in this chapter. (My rating is specifically for this chapter and not for the entire series.)

This chapter did an effective job of building on what the previous chapters had set out. Loved the increasingly dark, mournful tones woven into the story.

Had a bit of difficulty with a puzzle and had to look it up, but I enjoyed this chapter, too! I'm playing every chapter of this series and I'm finding them melancholic, relaxing and engaging.

The Dream Machine has an eerily dark yet childlike quality akin to Fran Bow in its themes and art. While I'm not the biggest fan of this particular style of claymation, The Dream Machine is beautiful and raw in the craft involved in the creation of this game as we are transported into the characters' intricately crafted dreams. We're able to gaze into what each characters' daily slice of life and then, in turn, gaze deeper into their dreams. In doing so, we gaze into our protagonist, Victor Neff's, mind (and all versions of him) as he traverses these dreamscapes, while simultaneously we gaze more deeply at our own reflection in the psychological dreamland abyss and philosophical void while playing. 8.5/10 Chapter 4: This chapter is the one that delves deepest into character backstory and old photographs which was haunting, however, it did drag more than other chapters as a result. 8/10
It's okay, Victor.
The fourth chapter of The Dream Machine finds you, Victor Neff, having to find a way to enter yet another person's dream. In what is probably the most technically faulty chapter in the game (I suffered from three separate game crashes in the opening half an hour of the game while trying to solve a puzzle), you will find yourself reminiscing about your own past and your relation to yourself and others around you. Strange that this is the chapter of the game with the least reviews, for I think it is one of the strongest narrative-wise. A lot is revealed about the building's owner, and it contains a finely crafted puzzle wherein you must stitch together and rearrange the format of the house / apartment you find yourself inhabiting within the dreamscape. Perhaps many were turned off by a few of the puzzle quirks, where you have to wander around for a while, trying to figure out what to do. While somewhat ambiguous, these problems can be rectified by finding the one or two text guides scattered around on the internet. Once these early obstacles are surpassed, however, the chapter glides along with an earnest pace, with the remaining puzzles being intuitive to solve and fantastically thought out. The game remains as graphically interesting as always, perhaps even more-so than before, and the writing skews from hilarious, to sad, to heartfelt, to the minutiae of conversation around a coffee table. It captures all these emotions masterfully. I would score this chapter a nine out of ten, brought low only by technical fault and occasional ambiguity when the game doesn't telegraph that you are supposed to backtrack. Otherwise, wonderful, wonderful stuff again.
