It's still fairly logical and well presented to continue the story.

Beutiful game with incredible plot and music. There were parts where I can't stop myself from crying. It stayed with me so strong, that it gave me nightmares at night.

After a great start with chapter 1 & 2 this chapter is too dialogue heavy, most puzzles are solved by ploughing through conversations but admittedly some thought is required, trouble is the puzzles are just too vague when they do come and sometimes illogical eg. we are not allowed to look behind an object until later in the level when you have a map of the same room? I am happy to try chapter 4 but no one has reviewed it yet to see if it is better.

Legendary Point & Click.
When all the "AAA" games are long outdated and forgotten, people will reach back to games like this just as literary classics :)

The overall style and gameplay are unique in this game and they captured me instantly. This chapter focuses on dialogue and investigation which is my cup of tea, so I loved it. I had to consult a guide a couple of times because the investigation process is linear and you have to figure out exactly what to do and how, but I enjoyed it anyways. Recommended!

The Dream Machine has an eerily dark yet childlike quality akin to Fran Bow in its themes and art. While I'm not the biggest fan of this particular style of claymation, The Dream Machine is beautiful and raw in the craft involved in the creation of this game as we are transported into the characters' intricately crafted dreams. We're able to gaze into what each characters' daily slice of life and then, in turn, gaze deeper into their dreams. In doing so, we gaze into our protagonist, Victor Neff's, mind (and all versions of him) as he traverses these dreamscapes, while simultaneously we gaze more deeply at our own reflection in the psychological dreamland abyss and philosophical void while playing. 8.5/10
Chapter 3: This is one of the best chapters in the game. The additional dialogue and humor from attempting different interactions with the other Victors and the scenes aboard Alicia's dream boat is such beautiful dark writing. 9/10
Victor, is that you?
The Dream Machine Chapter 3 finds you, Victor Neff, inside another person's dream.
This is probably the chapter that will decide whether you dislike or like (or hate or love) the game going forwards, as it has probably the most esoteric and "video-gamey" puzzles of the entire game. The setting of the chapter (a boat that seems to be stranded in the middle of a large city) is a marvelous idea, and the hierarchical system aboard the ship is a great source of conflict for the characters present in the chapter. Determining whether or not the puzzles are any good is up for debate. Personally I found the puzzles here to be of mixed quality. The puzzles I did enjoy were fantastic, but there were a few puzzles that required some serious trial and error. Perhaps that was just my futile attempts at bashing my head against a brick wall when there was a perfectly obvious door just to the side of me.
This chapter contains elements of genuine horror and morbidity. My first playthrough was traumatic to some degree. The turn the game takes is fantastically horrifying, and yet done with a certain amount of tact. It's not cheap horror that The Dream Machine dwells in, that's for sure. It's haunting in a way that you wouldn't expect from a point and click adventure game.
What The Dream Machine does well is make lucid a certain feeling regarding dreams. It carries dream logic in a fairly seamless and interesting way, and it is in this chapter that Cockroach Inc. begin to explore the idea of a mind beneath the mind; the concept of the subconscious becomes more and more powerful as the game progresses.
Were I to score this out of ten, I would bestow upon this chapter an eight. Were you to allow me the specificity of a decimal system, an 8.5. A slight dip in puzzle quality is mostly offset by some fantastic writing and the horror on display. This is, speaking from a puzzle design perspective, the weakest chapter in the game, but is fantastic across the board in other areas. Well worth pushing through to see the rest of the game; it is the hurdle one must pass to reach the gold medal.
